Thanks y'all; your advice is a big help! I'll check out the Impulse Archive and see how much space it will require. Maybe it'll all fit on a thumb drive if I'm lucky... If not, I guess that I'll cross my fingers a little while longer and see if they bring high-speed Internet my way. [e digicons]:'([/e]

Hello everyone! I am a huge fan of Sins , however, all games eventually lose their shine after much play, and I now wish to uninstall it and give it a rest for a few months. I also have another reason for removing the game from my computer: memory shortage. I need to make some space on my hard drive until I can purchase some external memory. However, I have a problem. High-speed Internet is the stuff of myth and legend in my neck of the

@Ue_Carbon I'm more of a slower gamer and prefer larger, multi-star maps. I also use the "save" ability for LAN matches to continue games later with my compatriots. Some of them can last for quite some time as it is becoming more and more difficult to beat each other. The last two games ended in ties where none of us could gain an upper hand. I have a slow Internet connection and cannot play on the

I've found that the TEC has two different Attrition style plays that work. Against Human opponents, the key to victory is an aggressive offense that keeps the enemy rocking; never let them get set! However, in all of the RTS games I play, whether it is the Stronghold series, Star Wars: Empire at War, American Conquest, Gal Civ, etc.; I have found that the AI is superior in the short run to a Human opponent. Speaking simply, the AI has th

@SivCorp I had a bunch too: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/375601/page/6/#replies Look for reply #149 towards the bottom of the screen. I was looking at the new poll on the Sins Homepage . It seems that there is the possibility of a new expansion pack; at least, there is an attempt to get an estimation of how the public feels about it. What do y'all think? Does anyone have any ideas for the content? Personally, I'm hoping for a new capital ship or two, with a couple of new frigates and cruisers!

I haven't seen any recent discussions about favorite Trinity tactics. I usually play Diplomacy, and focus heavily on fast attack fleets with loads of long-range firepower, backed by heavily defended gravity wells. I prefer Kol CS, Sova CS,Akkan capital ships, and Javelis frigates with Kodiak, Cobalt, Hoshiko, and Garda support. I rarely use Krosovs or Cielos. Planetary defenses rely heavily on hangers (with overlapping fields of fire) backed by mines

Sins can seems to last forever. I'm playing a large map right now with three AIs, and am nearly into my sixth logged hour. I finally got to the point where I an roll over my opposition without fear of repercussion. Should wind it up pretty quick now... [e digicons]:)[/e] AIs are fun to fight, but they're predictable too. It takes a bunch of them to make a game interesting, but that, in turn, leads

Sorry about the Necro. The old forum I used to participate on preferred members to Necro, rather than to make a bunch of new posts. I'm still learning the ropes for this one. I'll be more careful and pay closer attention to post dates...

Ouch! You definitely need to try eliminating, or at least, crippling, one of them early on in the game. The TEC is unstoppable in late games, due to its impressive economic system. The best way to beat a TEC player is to cripple the economy. My favorite faction is TEC, and I know it pretty well. If I can stay on my feet early in the game, then I usually can wipe out anyone during a late game play. The Advent is pretty tough; I’ve pl

Reply to TEC help in Strategy

If you’re having a hard time getting the hand of the TEC, then set the AI to Easy Defender. That will keep it close to home for the bulk of the game and give you a chance to get a feel for the TEC. Like some of the others pointed out, pick the Akkan or the Sova for your starter ship. I personally like the Sova because the enemy has no defense against the fighter and bombers early on, however, the Akkan's Colonize ability can save a lot of time. Also,

The Sova and the Akkan are always my first two capital ship picks. Early in the game, you rarely meet with your enemy (unless the map is small). Usually, the fights are between your expansion fleets and the rebel defenders around vacant worlds. The Akkan is nice because of its strength, firepower, and Colonize Ability. I like to supplement it with Cobalts and Javelis frigates and use it to expand quickly. The Sova is also a great starter ship,

@Darvin3 Thank you! You said it much more succinctly than I did. The Dunov is effective if used correctly, but has a narrow fighting role that is primarily limited to support. I prefer stand-up, knock-down, drag-out, no-holds-barred space battles when I make my invasions. I typically employ huge fleets with overwhelming firepower to sweep my opponents away. During matches that are hotly contested, I don't really want

Sorry, I meant an Anti -Pirate Tech tree for the three main factions; not for the Pirates. [e digicons]:\[/e] *Chuckle* I know the post long. How about a Pirate Tech Tree? It could include a specialized cruiser (or maybe even a new capital ship!) that is primarily designed for anti-Pirate use. It could have an interdiction beam which slows down the Pirate vessels, and a ship-to-ship boarding party which allows the gamer to take command of captured vessels. In addition, new Pirate Techs could be added. A Tech Tree for Black Ops could allow gamers to spy on any faction in the game, and a spe

Well, oddly enough, it is no longer giving me the minidump problem. It glitched four times in a row before I made my post. I received your post and then tried to duplicate the error. However, it allowed my to give a mission without any problem. Perhaps it hinged on my progress through the scenario (I am much further along now than I was previously)... Hi everyone! I recently purchased Trinity and used it to update my older Sins game. Since then, I have maintained its update status through Impulse. It has the most recent versions of Sins and the expansion packs. I absolutely love the game; it's one of my all-time favorites! However.... I have been playing Diplomacy without any hitches; it's running perfectly! When I try to offer a mis
