Patch is being built now. Should be sent out to all our distributors shortly.

I'm getting scattered reports that the game has released on Impulse. If that's true, then here's what's coming up shortly in Version 1.0.0.2. This list is not yet final but should be final soon. :) [Fixed] Unowned objects can now be fired upon by any empire. [Fixed] Zooming out from an object disobeyed max zoom distances. <span class="bbc_color" style="colo
While you guys are waiting, Nate put up a video showing off some of the combat in Star Ruler. Figured y'all might be interested to see it. (Disclaimer: Angry Rock :p) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNzcX6l3S2w
Alright then, toss us the $102k we have left to found the thing and we'll go out and purchase the space we've got an eye on right now. Hahaha! :P On applications: Not yet, but keep checking back over the next few weeks. (Secretly: send applications anyway)
Thank you all for the support today. It's not even launch day and the sales we're seeing are.... awe-inspiring. I'm starting to gain hope that we just might be able to finish this game. The whole thing. All of it -- everything on the backburner included. Today alone we've already made 133 sales so far. It's absolutely madness and I can't even count the sales we're making on Impulse yet ... I am embarrassingly humbled by all of your gracious support, even kn
Yikes. Sorry to hear that, Sushikawa. That was a recorded livecast from the 19th that Artem did; I'll remove it from our list. Artem does tend to run a bit more of a mature stream. We've had the stream's rating at R for some time now but I forgot that Livestream doesn't do an age-verification, etc. when you're direct-linking. Edit: The game is now available for pre-order on Impulse at the 20% discount available elsewhere. http://w
Now doing a live stream of the game for those who missed out yesterday. :) Also, we uncapped the limit of 50 people on the stream so feel free to join! http://www.livestream.com/srdevstream/ Game will come out on Monday on Impulse. Stardock is closed during it's office hours; sorry guys.
Was thinking of doing a live demonstration of Star Ruler today, actually. Currently setting up my configurations and so forth over on Procaster. If you'd like to come see the 'pre-game' stuff while I panic and so forth, feel free to come over to: http://www.livestream.com/srdevstream
Heck, thank Impulse for havin' us! :P We're glad we were able to get the game to you guys on the service you preferred.
Sometime soon; they're working on it. We'll keep you posted.
"You are good to announce." Our third distributor is: IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMPUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSEEEEE (Impulse) Seriously. I've been waiting for like three months+ to say that.
1) is it possible to have multiple civilizations occupying the same planet 2) if not, would it be possible to mod that functionality in?
1) No 2) That is not modable at this time; this may become modable post-release.
The soundtrack is released! Please consider dropping a few dollars into Artem's "tip jar". He'd be greatly appreciative. All the money he gets from his bandcamp goes directly to him. :) http://artembank.bandcamp.com/album/star-ruler
But small game studios have never had such a good time to start doing games and earning money as they have right now. There is superb middleware at very affordable rates (Unity, BizSpark, Unreal,...), and lots of different platforms to target (XBLIG, App Marketplace, PSP Minis, WiiWare, Steam,...).
Agreed. It's truly amazing to consider where we are now compared to where we were even six years ago as far as diversity in middleware solutions. :)
and things continue to be the same, no idea why you think now is different.
I believe the crux of his argument was that the industry is in essentially this cycle: ...and that he dislikes that cycle as it reduces the total amount of available creativity in high-level game production. (I recommend the below article & accompanying book for anyone who is interested) I personally
I dislike how it can hog my CPU. I often have to leave Steam off while running Star Ruler (as Star Ruler uses up as much of the CPU as it possibly can but gets out of the way when you want to do other things) so that the game doesn't lag whenever it checks for updates and etc. No other program I own gets in the way like Steam does with the sole exception of Playclaw. Steam is about as CPU-hogging as a video recording application at times? Disappointing, especially for
I'd love it if there were more Stardocks out there. Heck, it's pretty much just us, IronClad, ntronium, Stardock, and CodeForce trying to revitalize/reinvent the 4X genre from what I've seen at this time. I mean, there's FreeOrion and so forth, yeah, but still. Support your indie studios! We only live as long as you let us.
Oh come on, not again. You know it's not true.
I say prove him wrong with facts. Neither claim may be validated from the data provided so far. You've both an unsubstantiated opinion but that doesn't make either opinion less potentially valid. In my personal opinion saying something is 'not true' without presented evidence is not an honest and fair practice. (Personally, I wouldn't expect Frogboy to make a claim that he couldn't back up with facts)
Were these models included? I think it would make the game much cooler. [e digicons]B)[/e]
Sadly, I'm not sure whether that will pan out or not. We are sorely lacking productivity on the models front (slightly shored up thanks to our hero, ere4s3r and the volunteer work we've been able to ask for from my friends in the SpaceBuild Enhancement Project) and many modelers have come and gone over our development cycle, often necessitating a 'reboot'
For those interested, Artem Bank is putting up the Star Ruler soundtrack over at Bandcamp and will be streaming it all the way to the game's release (and adding tracks as they make it into the game). They're not all quite up yet (it's a work in progress) but they ought to be very soon. Feel free to drop by and give a listen. :) http://artembank.bandcamp.com/album/star-ruler</
