I give up in Single Player Sins Forums

All I do is fight pirate after pirate and then the AI jumps in. I enjoy strategy, but come on, when the AI jumps in with big ships and I have had no time to research anything because I spend all my cash on ships to fight pirates, I have to brand this game as ridiculous. Why in the hell are pirates so strong? They are better equipped than my ships. Why don't they attack the AI sometimes? I give this game a 2 at best, can't believe I wasted my money on it.
