I keep getting a game unavailable message whether I use the ice on the desktop, or go through the steam library. How do I get this fixed??

Is anyone else having a crash problem when Steam sends in info messages in the background. I need to save constantly as game will freeze whenever steam updates their info panel. Normally have to switch to steam, then a runtime error box appears. Thx
