It's a purple plasma storm, not the bluish magnetic cloud. I placed the starbase next to the mine to keep those pesky enemies from stealing it from me. The problem is it keeps getting hammered by fighters/bombers and no ability to defend itself. You would think a starbase would have flack cannons to protect itself from strike craft!

Could make it an option at the start of the game to choose your flagship from a list of capital ships. That way it spawns into the game at start and you can then pick the ship you want.

I've noticed if you place a starbase in a sector with a plasma storm, build fighter bays, the fighters remain in the bays and never launch. if you click on the recall fighter button the message 'launch prohibited' is displayed. My monitor is a widescreen with 16:9 Ratio. I know there are quite a few out there with the same ratio monitor for widescreen. I can run with 1280x768 (16:10) and currently am doing as such but then the graphics get slightly squished and yes it is noticable. Will it be possible to add this resolution to the optional selections? (my monitors MAX is 1280x768 unfortunately)

I actually think the pirates for once were balanced. A force to reckon with and as long as you keep them away until you get a starbase and some mines sat up you can handle them. Once they hit the minefield (even their strongest force), it tares them up enough for a starbase and 2 cannons (TEC) to tare them appart. Just a thought that would also impact the game and make things more interesting, fighter pilot school. You have schools to train the crew of a ship for the ship's experience, but why not have a tech to train fighter pilots to hit more accurately and be more evasive? I understand that you can't really give experience to the fighters because they are so short lived, however if the pilots had to go through a school before becoming pilots (hence the tech) then ever pilot getting into a fi
