Think you can specify a little more at what exacly you need help with? Is it getting a good start? Or... If I get you right though, I would recomend starting a game against an Easy AI. As soon as the game starts pause the game and open the research window and read what everything does. If you really want to be sure not to get owned while learning the game add another AI on your team and set him to Medium, also be sure to lock teams. Personally I prefer getting my economy going
