Multiplayer is still active, but the community is very small. Most players play single player, or they play with friends. You should be able to see other players/games in the lobby though, unless you play in a weird time zone. Most of the active players are playing 5s, which will be in the game label somewhere (5s, 5sss, 5s skilled, etc). That said, you won't be welcome in the 5s games until you have at least 20 or 30 online wins, which you can get by playing onlin

I stopped playing with the outlaw sectors turned on against AI for two balance reasons. 1) If the AI are too weak, they expand super slowly, or die altogether. 2) If the AI are strong enough, the outlaw sectors feed their capital ships and titans a ton of experience, making them super hard to kill in the mid-late game. The difference between a level 1 and level 6 titan is huge. That said, the outlaw sectors are a very fun addition if you're playing with frien

Couple of tips that should help Goresh. 1) CARRIERS! Build these en masse. The best late game fleet you can have is a leveled titan, a leveled colonizer cap ship, and a leveled siege cap ship, with the rest solid carriers (seriously, don't build any more cap ships). Make only enough fighters to overcome the enemy's fighters, 25-30 is usually plenty, then go mass bombers. Leave the cap ships behind (they are vulnerable), and fly your titan into the enemy grav well, then fly your carrie

I am "gud," although you may not know this forum handle. In fact, you would 1 v 1 me. That said, you are an elitist prick. I've never seen you vote to include noobs in a 5s game, and I've seen you kick them hundreds of times. It's super weird that you like to communicate with the community through your replays, but you don't want to build the community by including new blood.

You're looking for RedRuby's thread "Daily Replays (Skilled)" https://forums.stardock.com/430829/Daily-Replays-SKILLED Pre-warning, RedRuby is an elitist prick, and you will see mostly 5s games there (and occasionally 1v1). 5s are 5 on 5 pick up games, with only veteran players permitted to play, and RedRuby will only play 1v1 against people he knows. You will need at least 50 (sometimes man

Thanks. I'll look for you in 5s. Have found it's been really quiet in the last few months, so I haven't been on much, but I'd like to play against you. Your replays and analysis are great. Cheers, Aigi

Agree with Freyja in a big way. Struggling with the game? Improve. There are abundant guides and resources available that you clearly have not used. Nerf the game just because you're too lazy to learn how to play? Lol No.

I must agree with Darvin, your timelines are off my friend. Do you actually have a clock nearby, or are you guesstimating? I play on unfair or above, and they're not as fast as you seem to think they are. Even Vicious level seldom kicks out a titan in under 30-40 minutes. There are many guides out there to help you improve. I would suggest improving your game play, or reducing the ai difficulty.

Spam is never a bad idea. Had a game last night though that really got me thinking about this again. I did exactly as you said above, I spammed, and myself and X-Wing wiped the guy between us pretty quickly (he relocated, but he was out of the game from there). Then X-Wing moved on to tag-team Auqia with JBaum, and they got his capital and most of his ships (though it's tough to put Auqia out of the game), while I moved to and stabilized the other front. The proble

There are a few people I'd like to see reviewed here MJBriley. I've seen each of these guys doing 5s on a semi-regular basis, and been impressed, though some may not be gold list material. Here goes: Avezearth - Seems to be a very competent all-rounder, with no weak positions jbaum - Decent all-round and very solid front-liner, though a really bad team player if he's not in a good mood Carrot - Only limited exposure, but he seems to be a smurf of

Recently came across the star trek mod, and I'm excited about it, but I have a few questions. 1) If I use this mod, will I still be able to play normal multiplayer 5s, or will I need to revert in order to play standard rebellion games? 2) I've been having some trouble downloading the mod. Is this normal? 3) Is there a good authoritative place where the mod changes are described in detail? Ship types, race types, planets, etc. Thanks in advance, this loo

Hey Hesketh, This thread is pretty far out of date now. If you're looking for guides, a great one was developed by GoaFan, who still posts on this board on a semi-regular basis. His is a good all-round guide, and covers important game mechanics and tactics. If you're past the core elements of the game, a great advanced guide for those looking to play against other humans is Grimm's guide. This one is geared toward 5 on 5, which is the typical online pvp gam

Hey Scartch, This is a common one. What happeed is that you have another planet selected (I do this all the time). When you zoom in on the planet under attack, you try to select tactical structures, which it lets you do (including showing the structure), but it shows the whole gravity well as being"another structure is in the way". This is because you're technically still in the other planet's building queue. Click on the planet that's being attacked&n

Good for you for hanging in there Scartch, kudos. The game does indeed have a super steep learning curve, but you'll love it once you've figured out all the moving parts. Best of Luck!

Hello Multiplayer Community, I have a question about MP strategy. I've been playing online for some time now, and I understand the tactics for each of the positions pretty well (eco, suicide, front-line). That said, there are times when the map creates a series of pseudo-suicide positions, typically when the teams are spread out across the map, with relatively few players adjacent to allies. In these cases, you might technically be in suicide position, but so are one or bo

You don't mind the Devs being called "freaking dimwits," but you mind the veiled implication that the original poster isn't very good at the game? I didn't construct any kind of argument to the original poster. I provided some context, then I told him how to beat the pirates, which seemed more or less like what he needed. It's not necessary to hang mountains of hate on me because I said "gentlemen" without 12 pages of fine print designating who I am addressing, in what

Apologies for my inability to do quotes, but most of this is directed at Seleucia's earlier post. Competitive MP games turn off pirates in order to focus on the strategic battle between human players, and remove the AI from the equation. The Sins Devs have done a great job creating a game that allows players to create a wide variety of different game experiences. Some of those experiences include involving the AI, and some do not. I don't think any one player can expec

I had scouted, and I knew he had that Marza but not much else near me. Had he been playing legit, he would've been forced to fight at least 2 of the turrets (enough time for me to fleet up and then kill his damaged Marza). I did fleet up, but unfortunately so did he, and the income loss from my damaged homeworld, and the fact that his Marza was full health, left me at a solid disadvantage, and I would've lost without the minidump. I can tell you that the y-axis is strictly ban

Yesterday I played a casual 1v1 against a stranger on ICO. I knew I would be sending my fleet relatively distant to my homeworld to colonize, so I surrounded it with turrets so it couldn't be sieged without giving me time to get back and contest. Long story short, my opponent arrived with a marza and used the y axis to avoid my turrets while still sieging the planet. My expenditure on turrets was now useless, and I couldn't recover quickly enough to contest (thoug

I appreciate that condescending may be how the post comes across, and I apologize for that, but you don't need weaker pirates, you need the capability to beat the pirates, and you need your opponents to have that capability as well. I played diplomacy too, and although the pirates were strong, they could be beaten with the right tactical approach, which I provided above. If you win your games by following around the pirates, you need to either play against strong

There is no problem with pirates gentlemen. First off, most multiplayer games disable the pirates, to allow for a pure strategic experience. If you don't like them, disable them. Period. That being said, if the pirates are defeating you easily, you are doing a wide variety of things wrong. In multiplayer, the pirates are used to level-up titans, which become much more powerful as they level. Many of the titans can defeat the pirate base with the help of just a few supporti
