I played a 5's game where all was allowed. I was in between 4 enemy players. I was holding my own against the player on the left of me. Then an Upgraded Orkulus with about 16K HP came along supported by a bunch of vettes within about 20 minutes from the player to the right and joined forces with the player to the left of me. There was nothing I could do but run; those Orkies seem OP. Is there even a way to counter them particularly when supported by a decent force that early in game?
Unfortunately, I am getting "version differs from host" incompatibility when attempting to use this mod for ICO MP games. Hopefully Stardock will incorporate your mod in the next few patches...well at least here's to hoping. Good news is all my minidumps seemed to be related to recorded MP videos. Wherefore I simply moved them to another directory and haven't experienced any MDs since; and its already been a few days without a single MD. I've also reduced everything
My Rig is 7 years old: Windows Vista Dual core AMD Athlon 2.7 Ghz (OC) Nvidia 9800 GTX+ 4GB Ram. My drivers are up to date. Single player games against same # AI's are fine. In fact I've ever ever crashed/minidumped playing single player since getting this game for xmas. Come to think of it, 5s seem to be the only game styles resulting in minidumps. I played a 1v1 the other day that went on for well over 3 hours on m
Thought I ask here as I don't know where else. Is this mod compatible with ICO MP games or will I have incompatibility issues if I install this mod? ( I mainly play 5s and 4s game styles). I am having problems with minidumps, seems to happen most of the time in 5v5 games (maybe the # of players in this game style puts a strain on the 2gb limit). I reduced graphics to medium and turned off all special effects/exhaust trails/shadows etc. but still even today i dumped after about 1.5
As the title says. I feel this area is where I am really lacking at this point in time during ICO player vs player MP games. Wherefore, any experienced players would be willing to share some tips/advice please post here. I get the ship counter system and know that flak work best in middle of enemy fleet (due to multi-sided firing banks), but that's as far as it goes. What I am after is the following and anything else worthy of mentioning: 1. Engagement range- should I leave it on
Looks great, albeit I play Sins for multiplayer on ICO. If I use this mod will I still be able to play MP without having "incorrect version/version does not match" issues?
It seems a newer driver for my GPU was released just last month- so I've installed it and see how it goes. I've also read SINs can only utilise 2gb of ram (if true that's a real shame). I decreased my graphics from highest to high and turned shadows off. I guess the next step is to go medium (though I don't really want to do this if i can avoid it). Anything else that hogs a lot of RAM/I should be turning down in the video/graphics section?
This is my RIG: Windows Vista dual core AMD Athlon 2.7 Ghz (OC) Nvidia 9800 GTX+ 4GB Ram. It seems play long enough and one ends up 'mini-dumping', and if not someone else does; this is frustrating and also ruins team games. Today I mini-dumped on both the 5v5 games I played (after about an hour). Yesterday I played one 5s game which again resulted in me mini-dumping. Since I purchased the game for xmas I've had more M
Thanks for the video mate learned a lot from it. It seems I have been using the wrong abilities on my TR titans- I tended to go for composite mounts & High stress alloys. While you guys went for explosive shot and scattershot (i will try them next time i have titan). Also, I like how Doci colonised that far terrain by sending scout first and queuing up multiple large square in gravity well so that AI militia would chase single scout, while his other scout/corvettes jumped
I want to sum up last 2 months of ICO .... ICO was almost dead most of the day and on prime time there was possibly a few over 100 of people on it. That was on very good day. Then December sale came and ICO peeps jumped to 700+ people with at least about 200 people playing sins over ICO at any given time during a day. AT the time I am writing this there is 40 people on-line. Is it because game is bad??? I do not think so. <br
Was wondering something about the early game fleet composition. Hope some of you more knowledgeable players could share your input here. Say I have a fleet of Corvettes and LF's and opposition has also got a fleet of Corvettes and LF's. Would there be any reason to add flak and LRF's to my fleet since addition of these ships would not provide a hard counter to his fleet anyways (ie. his corvettes would still counter my LRF's and his LF's my flak). Or is it better j
Shallow game compared to original. I miss being able to build choke points for base defense (base defense totally missing here), I miss being able to to allocate roles for my soldiers (and training them for those unique roles as the game progresses), i.e snipers, heavies, grenadiers, scouts (instead you get that randomised BS), I miss having my 14 men teams, i miss being able to pick up any weapon or even the clip from a heavy plasma from the ground during the middle of a mission and use it (
So last night in a 4v4 Zyzyfer was the last player standing on his team and his HW was destroyed. 2 other players had already "gg"ed out and were being controlled by AI. Zyzyher, however, refused to leave, forcing us to spend about 45 minutes clearing out the AI's, nor would he even respond to anything said in game. I don't know if he just tabbed out and was surfing the internet or what, but if you read this Zyzyfer unders

I am a newb seeking to gain a foot hold in the SoaSE MP scene (been playing rebellion MP for about 2 weeks now- albeit spending more time watching + [trying] to analyse SIN MP replay videos than actually playing). Steam nick= Zyzyfer Faction preference= Tec rebels (been playing 99% with). I got point 1 covered (pro opening- taking asteroids with single colony ship), but I am sure there are other pro tips/ways to expand. I've also been watchin
Another question. In order to be able to feed other players in MP does one need to research technology that allows one to "demand and offer gifts"? For TEC its called 'Universal Negotiation'.
If he's investing on early Novaliths, it means that he isn't investing much on his fleet or defenses, so you may have an advantage
Problem was I was already at conflict with the player to the left of me, and had to keep guard on the player to the right. While the novalith player was on the other side of galaxy. Not like I could go after him. Now if I invested in putting up SB's that early I would've have the fleet
Thanks Incomitatus, and thanks ARESIV for such a great explanation of the titans and super weapons. All very valuable info. Somewhat off topic, I was recently on the receiving end of a really cheesy tactics during a FFA MP game. A novalith cannon was used against my home-world (while I was busy against another player), within about 20 minutes. It turns out that the host had victory conditions turn on- so when my home world got destroyed I lost the game. Are star
Turcharny, You make some valid points. Maybe its better only to focus fire on capital ships/titans. And more passive micro (like moving flak in middle of oppositions LRF's to maximise firepower etc. instead of focus fire on them; and that sort of thing).
@ Turchany, I was just thinking about counters. Wherefore, is it a good idea to allocated specific groups to different classes of ships using "Ctrl" to allocate hotkeys. For example, bind all my corvettes to a hotkey. This way if I see my opposition bringing say flak mixed with LRF's fleet. I can hit my hot keys to divert all my corvettes to attack his LRF's and all my LF's to attack his flak for example. Instead of allowing what otherwise feels like a random melee. Do ski
Ok, so I played another MP (4v4) as TEC rebels. Albeit lots of players disconnected/left only to be replaced by passive AI's. Anyways I rushed the player on my left and eventually overcame him. By this time all my teammates had quit. And all the players but one on the other team had quit. My fleet composition was around 1000 points and included x1 Akkan and a mix of LF/corvette/flak/hoshiko. Unfortunately, the other player (also TEC), by this stage h
Hey thanx for advice Sith & Goa, Picked up heaps of really good tips studying MP pvp videos which i had great success employing vs AI. :P Three things still puzzling me: 1. How do corvettes do vs LF's (which unit is stronger); 2. Are Corvettes good counters for bombers/fighters or should I mainly use Flak. 3. HC's seem non-existent in skilled games. Are they just not that great? Should I not worry about building them?
GoaFan77, Is "Truce Amongs Rogues" viable in skilled pvp games without getting rushed? Seems to be fairly high on the tech tree. I played my first online game (2v2), unfortunately my teammate left and I was stuck with AI who was totally passive. My two human opponents were offering coin to the pirates as bounty for my head :D, and because they were two of them they had more of it. I couldn't fight back and kept getting attacked by pirates so was thinking of getting "Truce
Are the races well balanced? I remember in old days I used to easily roll the AI with LRF/flak spam, with subverters (i think that's what they were called, those support ships that disabled other ships). The Vasari missiles did tons of damage. I am thinking going TEC- but not entirely sure whether to go rebel or loyalist; which splinter faction is stronger?
