I would ask that I be able to change game speed on the fly.
My love of this game increases with each day. Reason #491: You can play a 7 hour multiplayer game with your friend withou a single hicup right out of the box!
Oh I have another one --> Game is rock solid out of the box. I played a gigantic 2 player game all last night into this morning with a friend against 3 AIs and the game is just so solid.
And I love Ironclad too. A match made in heaven.
lol this game has possibly the worst multiplayer setup in existance
So you haven't really played any games lately I take it? Compared to Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, Rise of Legends, and Rise of Nations, Sins is a dream. You just gotta port forward 6112. If your firewall is blocking the port, how is that Sins fault? It uses the same port as most games do these days including WoW.
Great post. I agree with them all. I think I would also add that Sins is bringing a lot of new people into the genre based on what I read. Most of my friends won't touch multiplayer in an RTS because the minute they go in, they get raped by people who know some obnoxious cheese tactic. Barbed wire and tank traps in CoH? Annoying mini attacks in SC? Hero Rushing in WC3. In Sins, someone can actually play the game for awhile without having some stupid game flaw being exploited
Matt Peckham is one of the top journalists out there. Not just games but journalists period. If you're into Sci fi books, you know who Matt Peckham is.
I like how the elitist fan base of this game can't read and comprehend someone's points without mocking him. 1 Yes - the game is too slow. That does not mean 'make it a fast game.' It means the game is too slow. 2. I have also had a problem with the pirates. They are a major annoyance and contribute to people disconnecting after the half hour mark, which means everyone in the game just wasted half an hour doing nothing but sit and wait for resources. I almost didn't buy this game because of references to Homeworld. I know a lot of people like Homeworld but the 3D battles were just frustrating to me. So when people said it was like Homeworld and Civ combined I wasn't sure what to think. Luckily I DID buy the game because this is easily the best RTS I've ever played. Superficially, it's like Homeworld. But in every important way it's different. It is 3D but everything is placed on a nearly flat plane. It plays a lot closer t
Glad to see a majority of people are enjoying the game. Unfortunately trolls are starting to appear on some of the more prominent game sites.....(sigh)Isn't that always the case for new games?
Sins will get more trolls than most games because RTS players have been conditioned to expect things to blow up all the time. For the last what? 5 years action games masqerading as strategy games have taken the title RTS. Even Warcraft 3, a great GAME, was no strategy game.
I'd vote for option D: Length between pirate raids. I don't think pirate raids should be taken out but how often they happen should be settable.
Good review text but don't agree with review score of 8. I have Supreme Commander. I'm a player of Supreme Commander. This blows away Supreme Commander and they gave that a 9. Seriously, I cannot see how any objective review would ever rate Supreme Commander, a good game, higher than Sins which is a great game. Sins is better than Supreme Commander on every apples to apples comparison. It has better graphics than SC. Its Internet connectivity actually works on day 1 u
After the disappointment of Supreme Commander I didn't have super high hopes on this game. But having spent the better part of the afternoon and evening playing first single player and then one game multiplayer all I can say is WOW. Congratulations Stardock / Ironclad. A job well done. This is seriosuly the first rtS with emphasis on S. A real time STRATEGY game. Who else has played? What do you think? I have some suggestions for updates if anyone would like to hear them.
