@Cylon_Luvr try some TEC rebel researcher + cylon pirates though it seems to only matters late in the game, they even formed an alliance with the plague o_O one day i attacked a heavy guarded tec planets with those cylon pirates siding with em, i learned that even retaliation cannot protect you against that much firepower (though it hurts them good) btw did fortifier/agressor fake some retreat too? researchers seems to be a little tricky sometimes, dunno whats due to the

dunno how it works but the first think i thought about was the flagship AI, it always stays in the home planet gravity well, if he could just retreat if there is too much too handle for the cylon, would be nice otherwise the colony frigate things seems like a good way though i don't know if he will make it retreat
^ I approve the idea of 'resurecting' cap ships of the same level of a destroyed one or something that allows you to buy more level faster and cheaper which should depends of Hubs
@luschetk you can reach more than 800 easily even 1XXXon your own terran planet, i don't know if its 'cheated' i never played multi with it, but if it is then the +10%/logistic struct could be changed to a +25 pop or something IMO i dont think it is, after all you don't have any refinery allowed with rogue, though its a bit strange for pirates to rely a lot on population
