The same thing happened to us. A friend and I were playing against 2 AIs. Somewhere along the way the game got desynced and my friend got ahead time wise. He would say that an enemy fleet was attacking him and a few minutes later it would show up. When he attacked a planet and colonized it I was still in the middle of attacking it.
