it will not let you play games you buy in a box without being online (even for single player).Sure it will. I play nearly all my Steam games offline (with the obvious exception of TF2).You two are talking at cross-purposes. He's referring to the need to "validate" your install online (AKA: you have to have internet access), your talking about the ability to play off line once thats done (AKA once you've validated, you are, in theory, fine).
Maybe I have missed something,

Steam stinks. It is intrusive, and it will not let you play games you buy in a box without being online (even for single player). Orange box is nothing more than a frontend for Steam. It is now uninstalled and will not be reinstalled on my system. Stardock has a much better system of once you register and download, it is really yours to play whenever and wherever you desire.

For me personally, I see this more as people wanting to win as fast as they can so they can move on to the next game, so they can win as fast as they can so they can move on the next game...ad nauseam. Spamming is a tactic, no doubt about that, but isn't it a tactic that is normally combined with rushing? And rushing is nothing more than trying to take the win as soon as possible. For me, I find that less than fun and would think that after awhile it would become borin

Is it possible for some of you more creative types to create a new Desktop Icon for the game? The one now is not that nice. What I am hoping for is one that has No words in it but only the Game Icon. This would allow it to be larger and more distinct. Thanks for any help you can provide.
if the situation is not changed, then how is the game ever going to avoid the eventual doom of as soon as a person sees an army they cannot beat they quit...
The point is I will not quit. I stick games out until the end; so I rather not play to serve someone's ambition to win at all costs so their name gets on a listing. I never said do not play to win, but if you simply play to win the most games possible, it is an eventual slide to play games against people th

1. A follow command/key so the player can follow a ship if they would like to do so. 2. More types of Point Defense Turrets. 3. Make a double Click on a planet take you to that planet and zoomed so you can view it complete workable area. 4. I know it is not likely, but more animations on the ships them self. They seem to be very static, with only a build vapor, or gun fire, etc. that shows up at times. They just do not seem to have many moving parts. 5. Greate

For me personally, I rarely if ever play MP games any longer. I use to play online about 90% of the time but it seems all people are after is the win and not the fun of playing. I sold my copy of Age of Empires III due to the fact that, online everyone rushed for the quickest win possible. It did not matter if you listed the game as "No Rush 15 minutes" someone would join and rush to “prove” to you that this is the way to play the game. I am more of a slow/medium style player

Thank you guys for the replies; they are most helpful. After posting I figured out the little Yellow striped bar for the scuttle command. I wish you could group scuttle though. Odd that I think I have searched the entire solar system and only found a pirate base if they are the NPCs of the game. I will have to check again, but I think there are no others. Thanks again very nice community.
