Will this game ever come out with a non steam version like Fallen Enchantress?

Its a old post, so before buy this game, I would like to know if the Devs have changed their mind and there will a no-steam.exe (like egosoft do with X-universe games) in the future. I dont care if it comes in 2-3 years, I only want to have that option, because I hate to be locked to steam.
