@Frogboy, Thanks very much for the update! It's nice to hear what's been going on behind the scenes. If I may make one small suggestion: I think several programs that have similar functionality should be merged into one program. For example, if WindowBlinds skins the W7 UI, why not make ProgramX an extension of WindowBlinds that will allow skinning of the W8 Metro UI. Similarly, ProgramY should definitely remain part of WindowFX -- or better still, make that part of WindowBlin

I think WindowFX looks great. I would love if the inactive window functionality could also be applied by keystroke only as a "Concentration" feature -- That is, I may not want windows to be dimmed/blurred in the background all the time. But sometimes (like when you have to concentrate on the document you're typing in your word processor), you may want to invoke the Concentration features. It would be great if you could just hit Ctrl-W or something to enable it. On a related note to @Diamond12

Bug: Icon text bleeds outside fence margin in Fences Beta WinCustomize Forums

I love how Fences honors the Windows setting for desktop icon size and spacing. It even responds to the Ctrl + mousewheel ability to resize the icons, and the fluid animation that reorders the icons works perfectly. I also like how the scrollbar only appears on mouseover. Very polished. I did notice, however, that when I resize the icons to become smaller (say, 16x16), the icon text (which doesn't change in font size) starts to bleed outside of the fence margin. Right now, I have Vista Ultimate, which works great on my 5-year-old Dell laptop. I'm very much looking forward to Windows 7 (it promises to be awesome -- everything that Longhorn promised to be, and then some). However, I'll probably buy a new system at that time to really take advantage of everything Windows 7 has to offer. I'd like to nominate Fences as one of the best desktop customization applications to come out in the last 15 years. It has all the qualities of a true winner: It is useful, addressing a true need; it is effective; it is unobtrusive; it is well-designed; and it is intuitive and user-friendly. I think the Windows 7 team is on the right track -- not only with regard to UI, but also with regard to UX and functionality. Now only if they'll stick to it, we'll have Windows the way Vista should've been. There's still a long way to go, so we'll see what happens by RTM.

@Hack78, I am referring to Windows itself. If I right-click on a specific file, I get a menu with a list of options. What I would like to know is how to remove certain options, add my own, and re-order the menu (or add separators) for specific file types. Any thoughts? Thanks again.

Anybody know how to edit the Windows context menus? You know, the menus that appear when you right-click various things (e.g., the desktop, icons, different file-types, internet shortcuts, etc.)... Interesting... I found out that it is mainly PowerPoint (all the window borders insist on the resize function on mouseover) and the compose-mail window in Outlook (the side and bottom borders don't respond normally to resizing). Other apps function normally. Maybe this is a PowerPoint thing... But it doesn't do that in the normal Aero... only with WB activated.

Problem with Office 2007 in WindowBlinds Stardock Forums

An interesting issue using WB6 on Vista SP1: If I resize an Office 2007 window (e.g., PowerPoint, an e-mail composition window in Outlook, etc.) by dragging a corner in or out, from that moment on, I cannot "disengage" the resizing options at any of the window borders. For example, if after resizing the window at the lower-right corner I then go to the title bar to [b]move[/b] the entire window, I cannot reposition it because the mouse cursor is stuck with the up-down resize functionality

Reply to Transparency terminates after some time with WB6 on Vista in WindowBlinds Stardock Forums

On the bright side, the problem hasn't occurred for the last 3 days, which is a change. I don't know if this has anything to do with it -- On a whim, I disassembled the laptop and blew out the system fans to remove 2 years' worth of dust. Perhaps it was just the GPU overheating? As for that, probably not. I had measured CPU and GPU temperatures before, and they weren't excessive. So it's probably just coincidence that I haven't had the problem since then.
