There’s no longer any reason to ever have a city idle (which is why it’s tempting to force players to assign a city to do something before ending the turn, we’ll see what the beta testers say). Auto selecting next unit after moving each doesn't appear to work correctly. Can we *please* get an option to lock end turn when units have not all moved (or been placed to guard or whatever)?
How do I enable full screen at non-native resolution? I run games at a lower resolution than my desktop for performance reasons.

Very happy with the Steam only switch, because now it means I'll get a Steam key for my free copy. I hate FE being installed through a separate updater. People having crashing issues with Steam, was your computer built in 1998?
I'm all for Steam only for one simple reason. I wanted my free copy of FE to be a Steam key, but it wasn't. Now that the expansion is steam only, it's forcing them to give me one. Paradox is another company that has switched to steam only, because they found out that while the anti-steam customers are loud, they make up a VERY small percentage of total users.

I keep looking back to this game with each patch to see if the UI changes I want are in, and am always disappointed. The current UI of this game is holding me back from really diving in.
I agree, and think that the UI could be much better in this game than it is.
The UI issues around this is honestly my biggest hangup with this game. Look at games like Civ 5 and Endless Space for much much better ways to manage the "flow" of a turn. It's not uncommon for me in this game to go "****!, I just wasted a turn or two for my city!" While giving the UI attention will take a lot more work, a simple solution is to just have the following features: * A option to BLOCK end turn if there are any idle cities or non-sentry units with moves left.

But the more valuable snaking is, the more pressure I feel to snake because otherwise I'm playing the game badly. Please do not change the game in such a way that it becomes less fun for me to play, because I either have to do some dumb micromanagement the AIs can't do, or because I am

I like having to make hard decisions like that, meaningful ones.
That's not a strategically meaningful decision, you choose the mathematically better option. It's absurd that a city can build up to water and is not allowed to make a pier. It's absurd that it can build toward a forest and not be allowed to make a lumber mill. It's WAD, but it's bad design. It's not intuitive and it's not fun. A player can get an advantage by turning on manual placement. Why is that such a bad thing? Every 4X game gives the player an advantage if they turn off automation. Why should this be any different?
Don't most 4x games reward trade routes for being longer, not shorter?
It's too bad this wasn't a feature. It would make it more interesting to strategically shape your cities.

Leveling your hero vs using your hero (parking him in town) is an unfun choice. The other paths don't have to make this choice, they can do both at the same time.
Knowing that the AI gets to build a bunch of free buildings every time I need to save/load ruins the game for me. :( Yes, it's a bug, but I have no problem saying that the AI is "cheating" in this case.
