skirmishes are boring, atleast to me, their what you do after youve finished the story and dont want to uninstall the game just yet and i have little itnerest in multiplayer, multiplayer and skirmishes are the least importent part of the game, im sorry. with all due respect all this game is, is a homeworld clone with a little added economy and no single player campaign, this is just a glorified MMO
Ten players isn't an MMO. That's not even FPS level of Multiplay
Are you guys actually playing multiplayer , or are you just talking about single player? Can you really come back night after night for however long it takes to play out an entire game? It's like some people here live in a dream world where anything too different from MOO is anethema. Have fun only playing one or two different games every 5 years.
If you play with a core of friends, then yes, you can play night after night after night. I pop up M
There are many complaints about games taking too long - but have you noticed no-one seems to remember there's a "Save" option to take up the game the next day...? And yes, I haven't used the "Save" option either. Congrats to Ironclad in building a game that sucks you in and doesn't let you go that easily! There's

Yeah, I don't want to even remotely tell people how much sleep I have lost to this game. Coffee is definately a lifesaver and thank god it's Friday so I can sleep in!

I have situations where one of my ships in my fleet will literally jump into another systems, while the rest will continue to fight and form up. I've had many moments with a solo ship, "Forming Up" and just hugging the outskirts of the gravity well. Even when I move the fleet, it will wander off and do it's own thing. I'll screen shot it if it happens again, but it's an off and on type of thing. One game, I'll have it. The next game, they'll act normal again.
You misunderstood me, I think. I want the option to turn the Pirates off and not have it catastrophically affect game balance, the AI or the economy. I'm not sure how much clearer I can say that. Do I wish that Sins had been developed in a way that Pirates wouldn't be a core game mechanic? Yes. Do I wish that the extreme importance and omnipresence of Pirates had been more transparent before I became excited about this game? Yes. But that ship has sailed and now all I want is a w
I'd like to think that fans of a game are willing to tolerate other people who enjoy the game in a slightly different way. To be fair, however, knowing gamers, that's probably just wishful thinking on my part. I like to think that I have a ferrari.. It's not working for me, but I wish you good luck <IMG id=ImageResize_Image_9 src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Smile.gif" onload=ImageResizer.createOn(this); align=absMiddle border=0 trie
Still, though, it IS a crutch and I sort of hate it too. The people clamoring to have Pirates removed apparently don't realize that it'd essentially break the single player game. I don't think the developers would flippantly tell us play maps without pirates if you don't like pirates if the absence would completely break the single player game. That being said, I'm sort of disturbed by the appearance that Sins developers and loyal
The following is mostly addressed to Syvere, but it goes for all the anti-option people on this thread. Just to clarify my position here: I am not a twitch gamer. I'm still learning the game, but once I venture out into multiplayer I plan on playing mostly on normal. I do not enjoy fast games myself. I just think the option should be there for people that do. Options are good by definition. I really do not understand the amount of opposition that's building to this. It costs you
You don't deal with Barbarians in Civ, Spores in Alpha Centauri, Antarains in MOO2 or Minor Races in GalCiv every 12 minutes. Plus, those elements are more flavor or difficulty enhancers than vital cogs to the game's engines. Would Civ be any different if there were no barbarians? Not really. The same thing can be said about Spores and Minor Races (which can be turned off). Plus, those elements fade in importance as the game goes on. Pirates get weaker and easier to deal with as the game
I know that Stardock will mix most peripheral issues with their games. I have experience with them having bought Galactic Civilizations (both versions) and Political Machine (where Frogboy was much more understanding of the game's issues and responsive than he has been on this forum about this issue). That's why I haven't bothered to come on and rant and rave about siege frigates or unit caps. I know those will be fixed and, really, neither are game stoppers (you can counter sieg

I guess, the best advice I can give you, is to build up slowly. I create a colonize ship first, unless I build the Capital Colonizer. Then I'll build a Capital Ship and as many frigates of the starting variety. Then explore with that. I will slowly build up my home planet, mostly start with one of each research, unless you want to with the 2nd Tier of Empire technology and run for technology that will allow you colonize other types of planets, if you run into a Ice or Volcanic planet. I'm working on a 3v3v3 huge map with 9 stars and 12 planets per star. But I have a quick question, if I add a tenth star, and have a pirate base there, will they still be able to attack everyone from that centralized location, or does the base have to be in the star with the other players to attack them? Or can they phase jump to other stars to attack their bounty?

I hate to say this, but you should probably use Xfire for that. Steam is a bit of resource hog and does create some problems with software. I had some problems with it when I was using the Steam Interface and Hellgate. After that, I'll log into Steam grab some people, then log on. Xfire is a bit more friendly as far as the resources used and it's above the same to talk to people within game.

I have done a 3v3v3v1 game with friends online. I have literally watched multiple encounters happen within a worhorm. I was fighting one player, while two other computer players fought each other. Then some other players fighting as well as the battle continued. I've also seen Pirates help me destroy a planet without attacking me until afterwards. Maybe all of the computer players were allied and attacked you. Same thing happens in countless other games. Civilization 1-4. Masters Of Ori

I think the ability to pause and think out your plan is actually a nice idea. However, I don't think in Multiplayer that you should be able to pause and then make moves, unless there is an option to make the players agree to the pausing or the ability to make moves while paused. But it doesn't make it have a hybrid RTS / TB feel to it, which is nice.

Ohh I wasnt offended. I was mostly refering to the comment about turning it off and on not damaging the monitor. I wasnt worried about that harming it. Mostly my reply was aimed at people who dont have built in protectiong and dont know that they are harming their monitor. You can look your monitors native resolution up online and if you want your monitor to have a long happy life I suggest running your computer and games at that resolution or higher, never lower.
