I think they are automatically linked since you need to research a technology to travel to distant stars, although I am not completely sure on that. It did stump me as well.
Grandwazir
I got mine fine, downloaded nice and quick too. I did use a credit card though.
Ah right I thought it was that, but I still couldn't get it to work sometimes. Oh and yes I mean grav well.
1) Not a clue, I think based on experance it will join the first/biggest fleet in the system and this isn't dependant on distance. I tried placing the fleet I wanted them to join right next the factory and it would still join the defensive fleet instead. 2) The only way I have found is to reform the fleet. Clicking on ships to move to a fleet doesn't make them join only go the location the fleet is at. 3) Anywhere in the current system. 4) Not as far as I know. The only way
Following on the idea of blowing moons up, why not have a ship that enables to you collide the asteroids in a system into the planet causing stupid amounts of damage - Deep Impact style. That would be cool!
By slow pace I just mean sometimes I find myself struggling to find things to do, except wait for resources. On normal speed I found myself watching alot rather than actually doing anything. I'll give it another go tonight maybe it was the tiredness playing on me :) EDIT: The pirates do get a bit silly. In the last game I played the biggest threat I had was the pirates. The computer didn't bother to do anything but send scout frigates to their doom.
I don't think there is anything wrong with this tactic just it is a bit cheap. I'd rather see siege frigates alot weaker so you have to deploy them as a seperate fleet once you have breached the defences. Makes more sense that way. If your sieging a castle you don't start chucking stones at the walls until you have it surrounded.
I tend to play on fast otherwise I find myself just waiting for things to happen. I think I am meant to be commanding fleets or something in the meantime I don't know. I'd agree with ships taking too much punishment though. I mean if my huge nasty battleship is blowing up a tiny frigate, I expect it to be dead in no time at all, not take 30 seconds.
The tutorial wouldn't work for me first time either, just gave me the galaxy map and no guidence. Quiting back to the main menu and starting it again seemed to fix it.
I'd cancel my preorder and do it that way :D but there is no history of it in the stardock store which is odd.
I preordered therefore I should receive my serial BEFORE those that are ordering now, otherwise Stardock are sending a clear signal for the next release of product X....dont preorder.
Yeah I kind of wished I didn't preorder now and I just ordered it using the tokens through stardock. I would be playing by now if I did that. Oh well.
I'm not moaning, I understand it takes a while to do the pre orders, just can't wait to dive into the game :D
Alternatively get the browser to do it for you with an [link="http://https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/115"]addon[/link] that's what I am doing :D
