There's already an upgrade that makes siege frigs less effective...the emergency facilities upgrade is comparatively cheap and with it, a planet has SIX THOUSAND hitpoints.
That's not a lot to 30 siege frigates.. Try it out... While Relic online is down :p

I think a nice follow up would be to utilize the SW deployment infrastructure you have in place to get out fast patches / changes to the game. (I know 1.02 is on it's way, but you've been working on that since Sins went gold :) ). It would pain me to see Twilight deferred yet again, but I'd love to see some fixes/balance changes, and even an enhancement or too fairly quickly after 1.02
Something is wrong with your connection then. I had to uninstall, and redownload. I have your standard cable modem offering from TimeWarner (roadrunner). First download (opening night), was @ 800kb. Second download (yesterday) was @ 500kb. You said you had done some speedtests to confirm it wasn't your connection. Can you post a screenshot or other information to help diagnose your problem?
No one is suggesting making the normal game setting faster or slower. If you are tired of those other games and like Sins speed, than keep playing at the setting you are now. Don't do anything. What people are suggesting won't affect you in anyway. People are asking for _additional_ speed options. So someone can create a game with the very slow, or very fast game speeds.
I'd like to think that fans of a game are willing to tolerate other people who enjoy the game in a slightly different way. To be fair, however, knowing gamers, that's probably just wishful thinking on my part.
I like to think that I have a ferrari.. It's not working for me, but I wish you good luck :) I just don't see how some additional game setting options would 'destroy' the community. I don't know of any cases of thi
Can you mention a few games where adding a slower and Faster option ruined the community?
I'd agree if this were the case. So far in MP there hasn't been a single dull moment in the game especially if you are specifically trying to wrap thing up quickly. (I play all my games in normal speed)
I'm not a fan of spamming a single unit(s) (like siege frigates and light frigates), or base rushing (flying through the pirates, and capping a near to the enemy planet, and keeping my colony ship in the system so it constantly recolonizes, while queuing defense structures
Have you even TRIED the save game system? Have you even asked the other player if you could continue the next day? No? Thought so...
I've played 4 multiplayer games so far. 2 have had drops (1 person had to go, and others didn't want to stop, and 1 person just disconnected without reason, and didn't come back to the lobby). The other 2, were 1v1, and the other person didn't show up the following night like they were supposed to. With 4 attempts at MP so far, (~9
No one is asking for an end turn button. I am bringing up the concept of a 'turn' to show that some turns take a long time, and some turns are very short, with almost nothing being done other than the queue processing. In a big map, there is much to do, even using queuing, and quick select. So turns generally do take a long time, the speed of the game is appropriate. In a small map, there is not so much to do, using queuing, and quick select, turns don't take a long time.. the
I am only bringing up examples of Turn based games. Games that can only be played on the PC, and that are traditionally regarded as 'play at your own pace' games. Where the heck did consoles come from? Where the heck did 'go play Command and Conquer/Starcraft' come from? I think that many people that are playing small maps with 1 opponent think the speed is just right because they are NOT using the queuing system. For me, I seem to always play the same game for the
and i have yet to see a valid counter to saving a game and then resuming it at a later stage other than the impatient (i don’t want to as i want it all now)
I would like to have a speed setting to play a complete game in 2-3 hours. I can setup Galciv, Civ, or many other TURN BASED 4X games and complete a full game in that time. Because of the Queue systems, and the END TURN Button, I can queue things up and hit end turn a couple times in a row. The time waiting for the qu
Do you play turn based 4x games? Are you all saying that you always take your turn in X minutes, every time? Can we agree that on smaller maps, with only 1 opponent, that in that turn based game, your turns probably dont take as long as they do with a larger map/more opponents? You hit the turn button a little quicker.. These are pretty much facts, it would be difficult to disagree with them. Because I like to sometimes play on a small map, with 1 opponent, does NOT m
Seriously though, as so many others have pointed out, this is a real time 4x game, not a tank rush arcade experience. For those that enjoy the 4x genre, taking hours, even days to build the perfect empire is key - it's like tackling a 100,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. It's supposed to take a long time.
Then we should eliminate the smaller maps, and require that you have more than 1 opponent. Right now, even on fast, against one decent AI, on a small random map, you can queue
Why doesn't Ironclad just add a "fastest" speed? Seems like that would serve a lot of people with a nominal amount of work.
Yep, thats what many people are asking for. Additional "faster" speeds. They are not asking to change how Normal works, or anything else.. So it's difficult to understand why some people are so viciously against it, saying that it will "Change the game and make it dumb".
That's a stretch. Adding some additional speed options does NOT challenge the existing playerbase. It has the possibility of adding to it. TBH I still haven't heard any real arguments on how it would hurt/destroy the game.
I dont see where the cons are, in having a slider that increases game speed to more then what it is now. The old options will still be there.
Exactly. No one is suggesting changing the NORMAL speed of the game. Just adding some ADDITIONAL speed Options for people that want to play a little faster. How does this hurt the people that think the speeds are fine?
Sure, but if you ask those chess players if they would rather people not play chess in any form, or blitz chess, what would their response be? I'd think that at least some of them would say, showing and getting people to enjoy chess in any form is good. Some of those people who start out only playing blitz chess may very well slow down and play normal chess sometimes too. More options to configure the game doesn't hurt.
People are just asking for 1 or 2 additional faster speed settings than are available now. How does having 1 or 2 additional faster speed settings hurt anyone who is happy with the gamespeed now? Sure the people asking are not phrasing their request very well at all, but there's no reason to tell someone to GTFONoob, lob insults or personal attacks. Show people that the sins community is not a bunch of elitist jerks please. That someone commenting slightly negatively on the game is not
