Torrents of replies... sorry about the double post.

It might help if the AI built torrents of turrets. The AI's penchant for increasing its fleet size does seem to hinder it. Their use of the supply that they build up also seems questionable. How many times have I hit a planet that had 4 or 5 level 1 capital ships and discovered later that the AI in question was swimming in cash on hand? I could not begin to tell you. The running away needs to be solved. I have faith that will happen. The AI needs to learn to defend
I simply do my best to not play with pirates. I am a software developer myself, I will not steal from my colleagues. Or did you mean the other kind of pirates?

If you know what you are doing, you can clean off and replace the silver that conducts heat to the CPU fan. Perhaps a better fan can be found for a relatively small price. I found that my silver compound had gotten dust in it. The fan was not as tight as it should have been as one of the clasps was broken. Replacing the silver and the fan worked for me.
I figured mine out... I had downloaded the original and not the patched version.
Download the mod "Silveressa's Empowerment." The number of strike craft per carrier, especially for the Advent, have been improved. Distant Stars increases them also, but changes a lot more.
Skeletal Reinforcement has five levels of upgrade allowed, but Self-Repairing requires ten as a prerequisite.
With the bonuses as the Vasari for supplies, I had 2 points available and managed to lose a capital ship. Afterwards, I only had 44 points to build with and not the 52 I would have expected. I could not replace the ship lost.
An alarm clock feature for those times I forget to look up at the clock. Or, failing that, a feature to start my coffee maker to remind me to get ready for work.
