The constant use of the non-sequitur "SotSE" was kind of annoying, but a funny review nonetheless.
I agree, but it's a very accurate review that gets the point across.

Review on the GamingEh? blog. Complains about pacing of the game but nothing else. NSFW [link="http://gamingeh.com/sins-of-a-solar-empire/"]GamingEh? SSE Review[/link]
Considering the guy's history by nailing the two last games to the wall due to the crap, it's nice to see some praise from him. He does complain about the pacing but rather positive throughout the rest of the review. Language is NSFW.
I don't see anything wrong with the time limit. It does give you lots of options to discovery and should at least hint to the player whether they are interested in the game or not. If it takes more than an hour to have fun, Stardock has bigger problems to deal with.
Considering that this is supposed to be a RTS game with unlocked techs, I understand why they went this route. What they could've done is pick the pointblank map and have both races forced to TEC on the easiest/medium difficulty. Nothing else could be changed.
But the guy is dead on for the most part. What if when sins released we were waiting for 1.03 for it just to be playable out of the box? That is the level the PC gaming industry is at right now.....just push a product out the door asap and hope it gains profit, regardless of how well it plays.
I guarantee you Stardock would be worried about their reputation. At least they know how to run things.
2) MMOs - it's stupid to ask to stop making a certain type of game. The fact that you don't enjoy these games, or even that they're all crappy, doesn't mean they shouldn't be made at all. Just means they should be made better. I don't want to play WoW clones but I do want someone to come up with an MMO that's going to be fresh and interesting, with a solid story that rivals traditional RPGs.
Actually he states exactly that. Don't just read the headline and skip
There needs to be a happy medium. If every game looked like WoW, which, to be honest, looks like it fell out of 2002, well, it would get boring quick.
They are many games worse looking than WOW. Look at the casual game market with very simplistic graphics. I guarantee you that the number of sales from casual games will make several big name publishers jealous.
No replies? I'm surprised.
http://gamingeh.com/want-my-ass-off-the-360-listen/ Need to warn you the site is a bit NSFW. A rather blunt Canadian gamer gives suggestions how to get people like him away from consoles and back to PCs. He makes strong points and even brings up Sins as an example of doing things properly. He even talks about the piracy and performance issues in today's PC games, something I'm sure Stardock even agrees about. <b
