Wow... I just opened up my saved games folder and my current games goes from 27MB to 48.9MB. I have one from the other day that's 88.6MB. :o Luckily I had turned off the auto save feature for awhile otherwise I'd hate to see what I would have had sitting in there. I had turned it off because of the time it was taking to save the game each time.

anyway... there is a button on the lower UI bar, that is orange, it is useless right now, but soon will do amazing things..... like naming stuff! Will I be able to use it to generate the winning lottery ticket numbers?
I don't remember names very well either. I use the infocards very often. I love the fact that you can left and right click on the cards on the lower left to cycle forwards and backwards between entries that are displayed on the right. Inbound attackers - I'll click if I'm unsure of the system it's headed to (composition of the defense) and to see what I'm being attacked with. Capital ship xp level gained - All the time! I may have multiple battles taking place and/
It was midnight today, but we just closed it now (cause we weren't awake at midnight). *GASP* Do you mean to tell us that you don't have people working on this game 24/7/365? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.gif" border=0
If it would go my way, this message box would be disabled anyway, I couldn't care less for it. You'll want that message box if you're playing multiplayer to see other player's messages. Unless you don't want to speak with anyone ever.
MMO's have had to deal with this in regards to their chat windows. They allow users to adjust the transparency, dimensions, whether or not the chat window can be clicked through, etc. I have experienced what the OP posted about. It is annoying when it happens. The first time it happened, I was surprised to find out those messages could be scrolled with the mouse. Not seeing an outline of a message box w/ a scroll bar, I had figured they were just there and not something I co
I think its fitting , as the gravity well is quite large... I know. I wouldn't change it either.
I'll happily accept the sacrifice of aesthetics to keep my zoom-to-cursor. It's an option to mod it, so people who want the feature can turn it on. Sounds good to me.
It'll be around end of summer. What's your definition of the "end of summer"? a) Kids are back to school? b) Labor Day? c) The Autumnal Equinox? d) Southern Hemisphere end of summer?
Send a transport with replacements and hope they don't get shot up while enroute.
I really enjoy the game. "Sins of a Solar Empire is a "RT4X" game, blending the epic strategy and empire management of the 4x genre with the fast-paced and tactical elements of a real-time strategy title." When I was looking into the game, I initially had my doubts about the above statement. I was concerned that ship battles were going to be over too quickly. Well I'm pleasantly surprised how well it works in this game. The speed at which the game is played and
Right, now how the heck do I get em back in >_ Keep posting the same request until either they add it in or you get banned. Seriously though, I like the idea as well. Because of how it works now, it's doubtful I'll play another multi-system game until there are improvements. It's hard enough the way it is to manage multiple systems, but the cu
I like the infocards... I can see where you're coming from though. Now that I'm becoming accustomed to using the Empire Tree, I'm really loving that feature. Last night I really experienced the convenience it provides. Battles raging across multiple planets. Open up the fleet node so it shows all the ships, alt click on bombers and pick target. Double click on next planet to change view, make adjustments. Scroll within the empire tree (w/o changing the view) to find nearby plane
SotS? I had to Google that to figure out what it was (interesting results, lol). Must forget about what I saw cause I don't have enough time to play that as well.
ditto! the game becomes un-fun really quick once i have an empire substancially larger then any other player... thus giving me more resourses and more fleet support so even if i run into thier biggest fleet and suffer substancial loses i can still rebuild faster and bigger then them. it becomes clean up very quickly... but again its a beta and i know this is being worked on <img id="ImageResize_Image_11" onload="ImageResizer.createOn(this);" src="http://images.
Another aspect of culture is how an empire is able to maintain it throughout a system when they've been reduced to a single planet without any broadcast centers. I would think it should degrade at some point. Aside from another empire's culture, are there any other "resistances" to culture? I'm thinking that if distance were a resistance where broadcast platforms were the positive that overcame the distance resistance... then the removal of those platforms should allow for distance
That worked out great, thanks!
Oh, I was specifically asking about "giving the flaks a move order on the ship in question" (sorry for being vague). With your flak ship currently selected, is it as simple as right clicking on another ship for them to follow that ship?
It's been awhile since I've played either, but I'm thinking of Star Fleet Battles (pen & paper version and the PC game) and Space Empires IV. I know in SFB Marines could attempt to capture and take control or knock out specific systems. I know in SEIV there was also that granularity. Thing is I think that type of ship interaction might be beyond the scope of the game. Think about the planetary invasions. We don't have the option to send in ground troops to assault a planet a
You can just give the flaks a move order on the ship in question, and set them to weapons range autoattack. How do you do that? Do you select the flak ships, then Shift click on the target ship? I sometimes get confused as to when to Shift, Ctrl, or Alt click.
I agree with much of what's been said. I like the idea of culture but it's too strong right now and too slow to dissipate. My first experience with culture was frustrating cause I didn't realize what was happening right away. I had decimated the planet with a huge fleet, destroyed their colony. Next thing I see the planet's populate pop back up. Huh?! Must have sneaked in there. No problem. Do it again. Same thing. After the 3rd time I realized my colony ship was on auto. So ea
It would be cool if the crew actually mattered in combat. One of the cooler things about Star Trek Armada was that you could beam crew to enemy ships and take them over. I can't think of what game(s) it was, but you could also assault enemy ships, sending in marines to attempt to capture their ships. Thing is, how far do you want to micromanage logistics in the game. Crews, supplies, battle damage, etc. While it could be nice, I think I'm hap
Hotkeys are pretty simple and universal throughout the game. On the control panel in the lower right, the top row is always: QWERT. And the bottom row: ASDFG. Oh. I saw the hotkey reference when using the options but never really paid attention to them, much less that they were the same keys. For whatever reason I was thinking that each option had it's own key (like there's enough keys for that, lol) -- you know like you could select the p
Hangars don't have this problem, however they use a very large number of tactical points, so any one planet will probably only have 8-12 squadrons, most attack forces will have about that many squadrons as well, along with a whole lot of other stuff. QFT! Just last night I was doing great and then in jumped an invasion fleet from another star system with what I swear had to have been 15+ carriers and an upgraded Sova. All I saw was a swarm of p
I pre-ordered this a couple days ago. Mainly because of Stardock's involvement and how impressed I've been with GC I & II. I also like how Stardock implements their betas, giving their customers the opportunity to get involved with the game early. Anyways, I do like the game. When I started the tutorial I sat there awestruck at how great the game looked at this stage of beta. I probably spent the first few minutes doing nothing but moving the view around. <img src="http://images.sta
