years ago i lurked on the forum you guys are talking about. but after they opened the flood gates it became as much a cesspool as any other gaming forum these days. it's a real shame because it had a lot of promise. the last time i visited there it was just a bunch of idiots substituting snark and animated gifs for actual discussion.
i'm sure it's possible to get this game into the 6/10-5/10 realm with balancing and decent AI but it's not going to be what brad is hoping for. i must admit i always found it a bit odd that galactic civilizations 2 got 93%, it's more like a 75% game in my mind. perhaps it was released during a particularly dire time for strategy gaming.
so your opinions are worthless in other words.

after the masterpeice that was civ iv, i cannot believe anyone would defend civ v. can they name a single fun improvement over civ iv? at least elemental has a future. without a radical design, civ v is going to be remembered like civ iii.
See, what a lot of people don't understand is why Stardock tried to do this. When Sins of a Solar Empire launched, multiplayer was 100% functional. But a lot of people were complaining that they couldn't host because they didn't read up on what ports to forward on their routers and how and thus the MP was "broken" according to them. Ironclad and SD got understandably fed up with that, and included a similar method of connection in a patch that allowed hosting/connecting withou

demigod has turned into a great game. i agree with those who wish the dota nuts would either accept that demigod isn't dota or leave. i have played dota. i did not find it fun. others like dota. that's fine. but this site is about demigod and it's evolved into a fantastic experience.
Do you think that Impulse will ever go client-free like Gamersgate? Put another way: people are reluctant to use another client, even one that's unobtrusive like Impulse, because they've already got Steam. That's the general vibe I get when I discuss Impulse on other forums (assuming they know it exists). So maybe Steam's already won the client war and the best way to compete is through a simple website that offers .exe downloads? Maybe even send an email when a game in your account is

my connection to the internet is through a evdo cell tower. i get around 30k per second download speeds. without impulse i woudln't be able to get these updates. i wasn't able to download the big patches because my connection isn't reliable enough. i'm out in bfe so getting a good connection would mean driving 20 miles to the city to find some internet cafe. so you guys bitching about impulse need to get a life.
I dont hear any complaining about Stardock products,
you should read the comments after every mycolors theme release. complaints that there's 'only' 100 icons or complaints that they think there should be more gadgets. from what i see, hyperdesk is getting off easy.

i think their website is deceptive. they never give real looking screenshots just dressed up ones. if stardock put out a $15 suite that only had 26 icons, people would be ripping them a new one. if a stardock suite lacked per pixel skinning they'd get blasted.
Just guessing, but I bet that most Impulse users installed to play games. Wanting features that many are already used to on another system should be expected. This wasn't a post meant to bash Impulse. I want Impulse to succeed, otherwise I wouldn't have posted at all.
you would guess wrong about why people installed impulse. i installed it for object desktop.

i think it is relevant if they gave sc a 9 and sins an 8. sc had big problems at first with desyncs. i remember them well and so do many others. it tooks until the first couple patches to get it reliable. just do a google on supreme commander and desyncs and you can find lots of talk. supreme commander is a good game but like the op said, definitely not better than sins.
