can confirm that i had the same problem and the same solution worked for me
Bakka
wow two good weekends in row..
I was well on my way to a win.. I had culture flipped 3 Ai's and invaded another 2 AI's when when the remaining 4 Ai's decided that it was unfair and caused a CTD I've manage to complete a game as a lose. One of the other AI's started to culture flip the other AI's and eventually they did the same to me. I'm guessing they got a very high influence (special) plant initially as their homeworld.
Oh, found it. It was trying to place a png that wasn't available. - Fixed for the next beta. - cool bananas
A suggestion for you to check -- I do not expect it to work for you guys though This is mainly for those who changed the antialiasing setting in game and now can't play Check your prefs.ini file-- should be in the ..\TotalGaming.net\GalCiv2\Data Find the line Multisample and make sure it's set to 0 Multisample=0 It worked for me--- But I have no idea if it is the correct thing to do..
a rather nifty idea actually
the fern leaf-- Agriculture-- put a farm here triangle--entertainment or influnce-- put entertainment here lighting bolt--???? the rock--production--put a factory here or starport? crystal (or chooks foot) --research-- put a lab here I'm guessing the lighting bolt would help either the starport or bank.
Playing the beta I found that i'm make a couple of ships from scratch every game. ie long rang cheap colony & transport ship at the start of every game. Would be nice we could save and load ship designs not essential but would be nice. Bakka ps Just shoot me if some one has already suggested this..
Can you make sure the "C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming.net\GalCiv2\Gfx\Explosions" has "Explosion01.png" in it? Yep that file is there Also, can you post your video card specs
crash to desktop windows xp is a little more stable than older versions so when a program dies it crashes back to the desktop in windows 3.1 it used to be CTD (crash to DOS) windows 95 & 98 it was SNR-- screwed need rebuild Windows NT BSOD -- Blue screen of death and now windows xp has completed the cycle with CTD again--crash to desktop I expect others have their own amusing terms describing operating system issues
I had a mega attack ship very fast, no armour and huge range and i was using it to attack the other empire flag ships. So here I am shooting my mini-balls all over the place six or seven empires and up pops the trade screen.. I think one of them was sueing for peace. didn't have the presence of mind to take a screenie. no pretty graphics and simular to galciv1 ( I believe they haven't got to the graphics for this screen yet) the o
Clarification: target line should look some thing like this "C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming.net\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe" set " framerate" Main map did drop below 25 fps a few seconds after startup Title Screen: 69.9 - 55.5 fps Main Map: 56.8 - 18.2 fps ( low for a few seconds after inital startup of map) Ship Design: 63.4 - 43.5 fps Processor: AMD Athlon(TM) XP 1900+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.6GHz Physical Memory: 512MB RAM
The starport is the example of this in the beta1 release. if you research one of the bio techs (forgot which one) you can upgrade your basic starport.
you have issues with a report about issues? go for it..
Two new none-beta1 related issues: Main screen: getting build message for same thing twice. One turn after another. Domestic policy screen:Sliders can go to far, ie set to 100% then can't use mouse to pull them back.. Gotta use arrow clicky.
Cheers Evil Roy..
Compatability issues 1. Software mouse disappears on swap to desktop and back- Use of hardware mouse had no issues. 2. Colony screen causes crash to desktop when resolution set to 1600x1200. 3. Galciv2 doesn't always recover from swap to desk top when firewall stops the interent check (I assume it is the internet check that is causing my firewall to respond after stopping galciv2 from pinging stardock at startup) 4. Random Crash to desk top
ok so why will this post not appear in the beta reports forum?

cool ghost ships or are you already ascended Is that the latest graphics card driver version? Beyond that I hope some one else can help you.
every body is CariElf posted a message here about the problem Link
shouldn't be.. Did you fiddle with the graphics under the options menu and forget to change it back to default?
um this is why each ship had a range. range acted like the outer limit of your ability to "supply" each ship to keep it running.
