Might be the turn based bias, never could sink my teeth into these Paradox games. Possibly with the exception of "Cities: Skylines", but that's besides any fair points here. First the mandatory statement: Squirrel Power! Would like Race/National based Space Heroes/Governors with personalities better than Mercenaries, but that is me. They feel more at home somehow. If you can cram more stuff into the tech trees, that's always good, it's probably a psychological thing, but when you reach the end, it is time for a new game. That's why I also put it on the slowest progress possible. Much more enjoyable with something to look forward to, if we imagine it is all about the journey. Winning the game before they run out, is of course the superior way out of that dilemma. But hanging in there just to mess around, tend to be strangely fascinating. Heh

VI might be the first Civ I'm not buying, spent 468 hours on CiV V according to Steam, but still can't say the direction is a compelling one. Wanted to love it though! And tried hard! I've spent the most time with II, and IV. Well, not that I had Steam back then. So can't document it, but the Civ II Collector's Edition, is still sitting nicely in the bookcase. Noticed those "access denied" messages at the time of the last maintenance, no doubt due to some missing/faulty checks, and it was indeed not one of the more optimal ways of being told to "get off the lawn".
