One thing that I’ve noticed with every space strategy game (GalCiv included) is that it’s based on a realist’s view of international (or in this case, intergalactic) politics. That is to say, it’s really every empire for itself and the balance of power, ipso facto, in one form or another is the primary driving force behind an empire’s actions. I’ve always wondered why developers don’t run with this and add in a couple more gameplay features

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but... What you should do is take a moderately to densely populated planet, delete all the social works you've done, and give it to them. The outrageously low moral on that planet will put a damper on their spirits and force them to spend most of their money on upgrading the planet's social conditions. It'll slow them down. And while they're finally back up, you will have amassed a big fleet to kick their asses into shape. ;)

I agree with Peter. All your suggestions where great - the only one I'd throw out is the trading with them. While it seems more realistic that you should have to at least trade with them, the way GalCiv is set up, it'd hamper gameplay. Maybe if routes weren't limited or something, but I think making the play waste a trade route and give up improved income and relations would be too much. Otherwise, everything else seems in synch with the game. Devs - anything? Modders - possible?

I'm not talking about you becoming so culturally superior (which takes awhile), I'm talking about negotiating them joining your empire. Maybe you'd have to get them to like you enough then one of the optoins could be "Join". When they did, a little message could pop up saying "Blah blah has joined your empire". Peacefully, no war, they just become part of you.

When I saw the diplomat system reguarding the minor races, I was a little let down. I was expecting to be able to annex them into my empire peacefully. Do you think this would be a good addition? Could somebody make a mod for this? Maybe make getting the minors to join you about the same as getting a major race to ally with you? Any comments? And, also, I think that there should be a bit more complex morality system. I think that there should be a penalty if you de

I know there are a million and one of these threads, but ideas never hurt. Presentation 1. Tutorials! Or possibly some kind explanation on how to play the game. Granted I caught on and so did everybody else in these forums, but still, having a tutorial Warcraft or Homeworld-style would be nice. 2. Interface - I do have to say, this is one of the better interfaces I've played on. Master of Orion 3 was horrid, I don't care what anybody says. I played for three straight

I'm having a really good game going - it's my third one. I've pretty much won - I'm the most powerful race in the galaxy by far. I'm just keeping it going to play around and see most of the techs, and so on. However, I've come to a bump in the road. It's around 2202 and I saved just before a UP meeting. When the meeting pops up and a decision is made, I click the "Done" button and it crashes. I've reloaded and tried over and over but get the same results. What should I do? How ca

I've just became a happy owner of Galactic Civilzations a couple days ago. I have to say, I wasn't expecting much from this game because I hadn't heard much about it and decided to pick it up on a whim while browsing the shelves at my local EB. Let me say, this game is great. I real joy to play after Master of Orion 3. I liked Master of Orion 3, but I like GalCiv a whole bunch more! Now, I decided to play on normal for my first try. Call me crazy, but I did. ;) But anyway, I coul
