contrary to popular belief, things can serve more than one purpose. this is true but it takes you long 20 minutes to get the construction ship out to where you want to build your base and depending on how big you want to make it and then you have to do it again at least 4 more times so yes you can use it to build an area to attack behind enemy lines but it will take 20 minutes give or take for your fleet to get to the planet to attack

the only real use for said art. grav. well is to increase income and resource accumulation if you take the time and resources to build said grav wells and lanes to the enemy cap you are using up resources that could be used to build more combat ships this is my assumption but the small grav well of a starbase would not be able to power a lane as long as from planet to planet thus you would need 5 or more of them to get to the nearest planet. and i would also assume t
creates a trail of space-bases straight to enemy capital planet* I think thats why. and well your doing that the enemy is sneaking in from the true grav wells
would have to be a babylon 6 babylon 5 is already taken lol
why not i think we can do that now if we wanted to
yes and or build artificial grav wells
but we know that there won't be personlized ships in the game and i am assuming that there aren't any plans for starbases so what i am asking is it possible to put starbases in and personlize them making them as big and as powerful as you want to of course taking as much time to build them depending on what you put on them and how many
you could have a Targeting Frigate which improves the accuracy of ships in a given fleet (as long as it's relatively close). You could have a ECM Frigate which decreases the accuracy of ships in a given fleet. Ships that have a long range may be more depenedent on accuracy than shorter range (for obvious reasons). there is already a platform for this it is called a scout. at the moment there is use for the scout <div class="Articl
The key factor is time. It would take a long time to cut through a heavy battleship because there is 1000 feet of matter in the way and very heavy shielding powered by 14 plasma reactors or whatever. On a fighter though, there may only be 1 foot of armor and a shield powered by a diet coke can-sized fusion reactor. no space ship is going to have 1000 feet of armor too expensive and too massive the main difference between a fighter and a battles
true but what i am saying is that they should be reacting when the ship is detected on it's way in not after it arrives that is what i would do in reality
i think that when a grav well with fighters and/or bombers are protecting a grav well from a hanger and you detect enamy ships inbound said fighters/bombers would actually move toward the the jump lane rather than sit on the other side of it until that ship/ships actually make it to the grav well i would have put this in game play cat. i just don't know where that is
everytime this happens i am in another system and had ordered the building of a cruiser and then clicked on to another building or two that i want to build next in the system i am in not the one that the ship yard is in and the ship moves to the planet of the system it was built in
i guess it was just their bad luck that they tried to invade the planet during a world war
i have also noticed that the ships either ignore the way point or the way point moves on its own
that is what an open map would allow
it has been happening to me since the last upgrade not this one
most of the time when you order a fleet to jump it will jump until one of the ships gets to the new grav. well and if any ships are left in the origanal grav well they will not jump
I agree, if its open like everone seems to want, what keeps you from just building an uber fleet and going straight for the main homeworld? the only problem with this argument is that unless you have the phase interrupter then the game really is open becouse enamy ships can jump before defenses can get to them to stop them
Akkan's targeting "aura". what the heck is that the red globes are showing which ships have the target inhence given by the support cruiser
where is my throne? i think it is in the room with the bathtub
the only real thing that fixed lane travel does is eliminate those cities in between the planetary orbits and again i think the phase lanes should have to be put in by the player after the game starts that way you can have the fast traval of the lanes and the openness of space without the lanes
ok can one of the gods move this thread for me
and who said you were a councilman? you are merely a jester to amuse us i thought i was the jester
it isn't a very good trade ship that isn't making money on both ends of a run
i agree i was just telling you what was going on
