30" 2560x1600, and I would like to upgrade if there was anything bigger with higher resolution available at a "reasonable" price. I hope my next monitor will be something like a 40", 10 MP curved screen [e digicons][/e] . If someone would just get around to making one of those...

Most likely Pirates of the Burning Sea (a MMORPG).
Since you have a few RPGs on your list, one glaring omission (at least to me since I'm a fan) is Gothic 2 (with the Night of the Raven expansion pack), which is a first person perspective RPG like Morrowind and Oblivion. The game is more story driven than Morrowind/Oblivion, but since you also liked the D&D games (Baldur's gate, NWN) I'm guessing you're not adverse to a prominent storyline. I see that you want both openendedness, which Gothic 2 sadly does not have. Personally I like Got
The bottom line for me is if I'm selling games, I would definitely want to err on the side of caution and protect my product.
But wouldn't you agree that it's just as valid to err on the side of caution and not annoy your customers with invasive copy protection? IMO it creates a much better environment if companies are more concerned with making their customers happy than they are with trying to foil the pirates, especially since (to date) no one has been able to keep a g
Indeed, to me, the simplest solution, if one is concerned enough with the copy protection (which in certain cases is entirely reasonable), is to buy the game and then get the pirated version.
And if your local mechanic shoves a but plug up your *** everytime you have your car in for repair, the simplest solution is to remove the but plug after you leave. Most would probably opt to take their business elsewhere though ;p I doubt I'll be buying Spore if this is in
What I find works very well is 25% damage propagation (mothership ability) + 2 radiance battleships using their most powerfull ability (the one you get at level 5 or 6). With that combo it seems like all enemy frigates within the 25% damage propagation will be pretty close to dead, and as long as you have a few heavy cruisers the rest of the fleet will soon follow. At least this works extremely well against massive AI fleets. But perhaps humans are more carefull not to expose their who
I wish Stardock all the best, and I'm looking forward to trying Demigod. In the gaming market you've gone from being burned by bad publishers, to now become one of the best publishers and developers around. Kudos :CONGRAT:
Higher resolution is (pretty much) always better. I game play at 2560x1600 (30" screen), and I've yet to find it "too big" in any game. However since you're using a CRT display it may be that you will be limited by the maximum refresh frequency your display can handle. Personally I find that I need at least 75 Hz, and preferably more. But some can actually stand it as low as 60 Hz. Since you have a 8800 GTX you should be able to play at as high a resolution as you want, so as l
If the relationship is as simple as that then armour seems a little redundant doesn't it? If it just corresponds to an increase in effective HP, why not just give the ship more HP instead of more armour? The "increase armour" techs might as well be "increase HP" techs, ships with high base armour could just have higher base HP and so on.
I also hope that the AI is improved, and perhaps that the option of a cheating AI would be implemented. Not everyone want's to play PvP multiplayer, personally I almost never play any multiplayer at all, except for the occational coop with friends. It would however be possible for you and your friends to mod a race that you don't use to have lower cost ships or some other advantage. It's a bit tedious to edit all the files, but it could hold you over for the time being. Persona
Seems I failed to notice the armour type listings in the manual, so now I at least know which ships have what kind of armour, but I still can't see any listing of what weapons/which ships are good against these armour types.
There are different armour types?! Why in the world isn't this listed in the game? Anyone feel like writing a short guide to this stuff? Do different weapons have different attributes against different armour, or is it ship dependent (for instance, is laser always an anti-light armour weapon, or does it depend on what ship the laser is equipped to)?
I think somewhere in this thread there was a suggestion for a "sitting duck" modifier for siege frigates, which I think sounds like a pretty interesting idea. The siege frigate could be left as is, but when it's actively bombarding a planet it could have a +100% damage modifier or something. That way it won't be too weak to have it be a part of the main fleet, yet it won't be feasible to nuke a planet before the defences are mostly neutralized. While I haven't really had much problem wi
Thus far I'm quite happy with the speed of the battles. I like a slow pace though, and there are a few things I would rather see slowed down than sped up (like time to bombard a planet). I can see why clickfest fans might find it too slow though :p
Wops, I opened the thread in a tab and waited a while before responding. Sorry about the redundant reply :)
Right clicking the move command button lets you toggle if selected ships should jump in a group or as soon as they can. I think this is what you're looking for, if I didn't misunderstand.
I am having a similar problem (game freezes 10+ seconds once in a while), but I have a AMD/ATI 2900 XT with the latest drivers (8.1). I haven't alt-tabbed out so I don't know if any error message is displayed. I'm running Vista x64.
Perhaps the problem is that Sins does not support resolutions with less then 768 vertical pixels. I'm just guessing though, so I could be wrong. I would try it my self, but I have no way of verifying what resoultion is actually sent to my monitor (no OSD).
Yeah I couldn't change the resolution on my laptop either (Intel integrated graphics x3100, Vista x64), but setting the resolution I wanted (1280x800) in the user.setting file worked for me.
Its a dial up where you connect to GSM net, something the old cell phones where on. Its kB/s. 2 hours remmaning now. The company is called ICE. Is that as expensive as it sounds? My home is in northern Norway and we just recently got wireless "broadband" (512/512 kb/s) up there, so I can relate to having limited internet access. Atm. I am studying in Oslo tho
Allowing faster response by defenders doesn't negate that problem at all, it just lets you move the 'on-call' fleet faster. You still would need to build defenses everywhere, amass an on-call fleet, and pay upkeep on all that regardless. Yeah, but I actually think it would be a good think for mye core planets to always be a possible target. But I really do believe the long travel time will make it very unattractive to launch such a long range assa
The download speed jumps between 25kb and 35kb. Its at 8% now. Hmm do you mean kB/s or kb/s? A ISDN connection is 64 kb/s = 8 kB/s. If you really meant kb/s then the download will take something like 24 hours, but since you're at 8% already and it reports only 4 hours remaining I am guessing it's kB/s. Just out of curiosity, what kind of connection is it you have?
364 MB if I remember correctly, somewhere in that area at least. What is the reported download speed?
Seems we are discussing this in two different threads To Kryo: I see where you're coming from concerning the "terrain" of the map. However, I feel this could be sufficiently solved by this idea thats been fronted by different people. To quote myself from the gameplay feedback thread: But would that be the case if travel within your empire could be enhanced? This woul
