Technical problem: ship based dialogue in Star Control Stardock Forums

Hello Apologies if this has already been asked and answered. I had a search and couldn't find a similar issue. Just wondering if anyone has some advice for me - I've recently got the game on Steam and am excited to play. I'm playing on windows 10, and have more than the minimum specs for the game.
