Hi all, and sorry if this has been posted before. When I start a new game in DA1.6 (latest), and I pick one of the stock races, I can customize them with 10 ability points- except for the Drathi, it seems, which don't get ANY points. Is this normal? regards, me.

SPORE: the game that is scheduled for release in spring 2006! No wait: Fall 2006! Errm, spring 2007. Fall 2007? Perhaps sometime in 2008?!

While I have never "stolen" a tech in DA myself, it has been said that you need to have the highest level of intelligence for a given race BEFORE the "small chance" per agent applies. Spies alone have extremely limited use, but they can make a huge difference in the event of a tie between you and your opponent. You can ruin an opponents economy, or on the short term, prepare a planet for invasion by sabotaging the farms and thereby reducing the population to 6000

VISTA is a wreck. Dead in the water. Microsoft screwed up big time with their paranoid "premium content" security check routines and tilt bits. The result is that VISTA is not stable and will not be for some time, as hardware suppliers face the impossible task of programming drivers for this monster. Save your nerves, go back to XP. my 2cts.

Hi all, I like most ideas that have been brought up, and would like to second(?!) them. While you are still with me, here are my top 2 things: 1. Bugfixes (random auto-upgrade planet improvement bug, non-replaceable power plant bug, off-target defence) and 2. enhance value of spying! -while I love GalCiv2, I was actually disappointed with how spying and spies were implemented. WHAT IS THE POINT? PLEASE allow spies to be put on enemy starbases! I want to disable/ destroy a

Reno: I feel you, buddy! I had high hopes for the DA expansions spies, so I could sabotage a starbase without having to declare war on my allies (and frame the drengin, heh) No such luck, it takes away from an otherwise great game. Karmuno: seconded! perhaps this was too "expensive" in manhours of AI programming to put it in.

The more espionage/ covert ops options, the better! stealing techs, destabilizing, inciting revolt, blowing up starbases, sabotaging planets and research, manipulating inter-species relationships, sabotaging trade, facilitating invasions, poisoning the wells, etc. etc. bring it on! please please please

The features I am still missing the most is a decent system for covert ops and espionage ! Why is that not on the list of features? All that other stuff, OK, I'll take it. But the espionage system is really shallow in GalCivII- to the game's detriment IMHO.

I still think you should be able to wipe out a planet from orbit. At least evil aligned races should get that option, no matter the strenght of the ground forces. Just dump a few hundred tons of plutonium into the atmosphere, and soon the planet will be sterile. Or just use death rays. This might be counteracted by some defensive technology or building, whatever... there are plenty of possibilities h

I'd go with racial bonuses and planetary events (like the elusive starship quality ATT bonus). Also, don't forget anomalies! And I second the military resouces.

Several threads concerning this idea already exist, e.g. this one Link Some say enhanced diplomacy and espionage is going to be part of the next expansion which might be released in fall. I would certainly love to see it.

Xenonix: True, and I find this easy to solve: for example, just add a new functionality to the game: limit the number of "calls" a player can make (diplomatic negotiations) per #turns and give additional calls for more advanced diplo techs. There you have it! The more diplo techs you research, the more deals you can strike per turn, and you get the bonuses whenever you talk to the AI.

Ahzi Dahaka: Yes, that is true and certainly the reason why Civ4 has a very good mp mode. However, I recall that Frogboy said previously that mp was taken into consideration for GalCiv2 to a degree. It would need a serious effort to make it a smooth mp experience, which means to acknowledge the "iceberg" argument. However, I think a "mediocre" multiplayer is still much better than none at all. Besides, it could always be polished later. I would love multiplayer a

I never use any options that lower PQ in sandbox mode. As mentioned above, Mini-Soldiers and Info warfare are what I do when I don't go traditional. I mostly do traditional invasions though, because I make building Tir-Quan a priority and research several soldiering technologies before I attack the first time. I'd rather wait until another transport is built than use massdrivers or somesuch. I do not invade before midgame. IMHO outnumbering the enemy is not that important. I routinely

I agree with drawfour (#3)! Being a student, I do not have a lot of money. I was thinking about it for a while, but decided NOT to get it from BestBuy, but to purchase it directly from Stardock. I spent $5.- or so more, but I know it goes to the right people. Kinda like a 'tip' I guess, and one very much earned Keep up the great work! I love this game.

ANOTHER NEW BUG in 1.20.009b When I select a planet with a trade route, it gets treated like a stack of ships, and the planet appears next to a freighter in the 'inventory' window, when instead I should see the inventory of the planet, i.e. which ships are stationed there. I noticed this when I checked an enemy planet for garrison, saw only a freighter, and attacked- only to get whacked by the real garrison! Please take care of this, I had not seen this in 1.11 or earlier.

Hi all, I am just playing a game in 1.20b on masochistic, large galaxy and nine AIs, research on normal. First, I was sending my colonizers and the flagship all over the place, and setting up new colonies. Starting after about 10-15 turns I spent A LOT of time with diplomacy, wheeling and dealing. This has gone all the way until now, mid-game, and only now seems to slow down a little. With the AI production bonuses, there is no way I can keep up in research or trade goods, leaving diplo as my on
