Please can somebody help me get this mod working

Hi Guys, i am proberly a dill but i cannot seem to get the mod working. i have d/l the file and auto installed it to the newly created 1.05 mod folder,i can access it on starting the game and selected the mod to enable itband apply changes. The game freezes and then restarts but the LCARS format does not appear and i still have the vanilla races. i have tried installing to the v1.04 folder and cut and paste but with the same results. What stupid thing am i
i decided to buy this game online via stardck and downloaded it and i really think the game its great.I also decided to have a copy sent to me across the pond to the UK as i havent seen a copy in any local shops.I wouldnt of bothered having a copy sent, if i knew then that i would be hit with a customs charge of £9.17 as well.So that makes it a total cost of $40 and £9.17(roughly $15.50) = $55 i have payed for this game .Just a warning to any other Brits beware of the the Customs charges.
