Thanks folks, I appreciate the replies!

I have a couple of questions related to making Sins and external websites. I have started a gaming blog and I want to feature Sins on it when Beta 4 is released. So, heres my questions: 1) Is there an NDA? I think i read somewhere that there is not for Sins, but I want to be absolutely sure. 2)Sadly there is no fansite kit. Can we use the images in the download section, and edit them to be used on our blogs/websites? I'd really like to help this game get exposure, it'd
This is like the longest thread I've ever started in my internet life. lol. woot! Anyways... In regards to capitol ship limits...I finished a large game in which I was fielding the maximum number of capital ships. At that stage, I controlled 3 star systems and there was absolutely nothing preventing me from churning out as many cap ships as I wanted, all the resources were plentiful or purchasable from the market. So really the most important caps in a large game are the fleet
Sword of the stars has an excellent tech tree system. I'd love it if this games tech tree were similar.
Or you could rename the current cruisers 'destroyers' and make the new ships we are discussing here 'cruisers'. Cruiser's are the next biggest thing after battleships/carriers in the navy, so it makes sense.
I'm one of the people at my work that is "Beta Testing" Office 2007, and I use it extensively as part of my job. Theres a few factors to take into making your decision: 1) Office 2007 is chunky. That is, load times are longer, its a bit 'bulky', so if he has an old computer it might run slow. My work computer is a P4 2.8 GHZ with 1gb RAM, and it runs fine, though opening large files takes about 5-10 seconds in Excel, and sometimes it crashes all together. 2) The layout is a big
I remember the days when a defensive strategy was called a defensive strategy and not "turtling". I've sometimes play a defensive, secure your assets before taking the next planet sort of strategy. People who want to make fortresses out of their planets should be able to do so, they are consuming resources and sacraficing a potentially larger empire by taking a longer time to expand. So, its a trade-off with inherit weaknesses, not really an exploitative strategy at all. Just a matter of how yo
sniff, kryo is always shooting down my ideas lol.
Vasari are the masters of phase technology, so if there's anything like this in the game, I'd expect they're the ones that have it. Don't bet on it for TEC. Hehe...is that a hint? I like the idea in theory, but I think if it exists it should be something that the fleet that uses it will have to put significant resources to defend it. I'm thinkin
agreed, the game needs some message filtering options so you can decide what level of messaging you want. Something with several degrees, like None (No Audio Messages), Low (Only 'important' messages specific to your empire), Medium (Important messages regarding myself and allies) High (All messages). Something like that but more refined hopefully. Messages I'd classify as unimportant are: - Any message triggered by a scout ship - Changes in bounty on other empires<b
If I can ride it into space, you've got a deal you can ride it in space! blood will turn to ice as it shoots from every orifice, but you can ride it! That reminds me of the movie Sunshine hehe.
he means that. I dooooo Can't let eets and Yarlen have all the action on this forum. Lol sorry buddy I'm married <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.gif" border=
Hi, Just jumped over here from the 'minefield' thread. That discussion made me think that it'd be nice to have a few more defensive structures. I did a quick search and didn't find anyone mention this, but how about having some buildable missle battery platforms that launch missles. They would be similar to the gauss cannon platforms, only the missles would obviously be slower but pack more of a punch, and would be guided. If you want to get really interesting, you could allow research
Sword of the Stars allowed you to make a minelayer ship that would lay mines. I'd be in favor of a researched frigate or cruiser class minelayer ship. Also, to discourage abuse of this (like mining an entire gravity well lol), I think having the minelayer consume a small amount of metal/crystal (like 5/1 ratio for each mine placed) would be cool. And perhaps restricting it an outer ring adjacent to where the phase lanes meet the gravity wells. I'd also be in favor of Flak Frigates havi
thats true, they'd probably zap Earth if they saw that.
does this pink space pony actually fly into space? Does it come with an EV Suit? If I can ride it into space, you've got a deal
Okay, as promised, a pic of Sins on my 42in plasma tv Ships on Guard And heres a video I filmed with my digital camera hehe. This is what NOT to do with you newly created Kol capitol ship! Foolhardy Raid
haha okay, I'll take some pics when I get back home monday hehe woot launch party!
OMG, I just loaded sins on my media center PC...which is connected to a 42" Plasma widescreen TV...and 5.1 surround sound digital audio...omg, it was like watching a star wars movie that I'm in control of..hehe...I couldn't stop giggling like a kid in a candy store. My wife thinks I'm insane and is begging God for mercy now. Just thought I'd share.
For balance reasons, this would be really time consuming to implement, making it unlikely we're going to see this. I don't necessarily agree that it'd be too time consuming, I imagine it'd be about as time consuming as creating a character in a simple RPG creation system like in WoW, which is all of about 2 minutes. What you are designing is really a ship template/type, not a specific ship that you'd have to scrap and redesi
Was allegedly in in earlier versions of the game. Got taken out because it's "too complicated." Okay...devs, people who play 4x games are generally smart people...we can handle realistic star systems...pleeeeeaaaasseee put it back in for beta 4 and let the players be the judge of how complicated it is. Press ctrl-shift-Y at the same time. Enjoy.
Hi, Okay, I have put in about 10 hours of playing a large campaign with 5 star systems and I have to say, my overall impression... this is the most fun I've had from a 4x game since Masters of Orion 1 & 2...and no offense to anyone, but that includes GalCiv, so its saying alot. I even sneaked in an hour before I went off to work today As well, I've finishedplaying through all the tutorials, and a smal
Hi, Just wanted to post that I had a second save game corruption/crash issue. Identical to the one I've posted previously in this thread (reply #120) but with a different saved game entirely. I'm assuming its the same error, with pretty much the same details, so I won't email the dump file or the saved game file unless you folks at Ironclad specifically want it. On another note, I had an error where I had my fleet set to grouped jumping, and yet one of my flak frigates jumped
Hi, My saved game is crashing just after it finishes loading. I tried making a new game, that worked fine, so it seems like a corrupt saved game file. Just posting the bug here, but I've emailed the dump file, my dxdiag.txt and the saved game file itself to [email protected]. In any case, its very reproduceable, all you have to do is try to load that saved game file ------------
oops wrong forum section hehe
