Don't like being restricted to surveying with only the single flagship and not being able to build multiple survey ships

I was hoping for some sort of planetary or orbital based anti-ship defenses like you have in MOO
I continue to be bummed out by the fact that starbases are useless to defend a planet as you can't build it on the planet so the enemy simply goes around it to attack the planet itself. Am I missing something?
Still I agree that turning off all movement would be great. Also you really shouldn't say that 8GB is the minimum as really it isn't as it is glacial on my 8GB machine.
It would be cool to have a detailed fleet screen that would have the following: Fleet list List of ships by ship class List of battles and results List destroyed enemy ships and installations. Ability to dispatch ships/fleets from the screen.
Given how many power hungry politicians we have you would thing that governors would get plus loyalty any time they get ministership or govenorship.
Agreed. As I have said in another post, the ability tp set a research end goal would be more 'realistic' as nations do it all the time. Take JFK's mood speech as an example or China's and India's aircraft carrier programs.
Is there any way to move population to another core world? Thanks
Thanks for the info. Still, it would be cool to have a end-goal option for research where one sets a final goal and the game auto-queues the relevant techs.
Not a fan of how tech research works due to lack of the ability to focus on a tight research path. The lack of that ability is also unrealistic as there are plenty of real life examples, such as US Manhattan Project US Supersonic flight project US and Soviet Space Race Russian Hypersonic Missile and SAM development US, Russian and Chinese Stealth Fighter projects Chinese and Indian Air Craft Carrier projects Etc. So I would
Hi Playing my first game of GC4. Here are my initial thoughts. Overall I love it. However there are some peeves. 1. Don't like that one's population blocks (which represent 10's on millions of beings) having actual individual names. Why not name them after regions or nationality. 2. Despite building starbase modules I don't have any modules available for my starbases? Obviously I am missing something. So it should be more transparent on how to build
For a real world example look how the Mogols conquored China then got culturally flipped by their new subjects.
Oh yeah, I forgot one, also if you could make it more likely that you would have your colonies revolt if you have multiple colonies with low happiness or morale. Then the would revolt to a new major race (not minor race) with the name of your race except adding rebillion and your logo with a (/) through it and the opposite of your color. Also this new race would only have your technology not, the greatest technology available and immediatly be at
Research military doctrines for fleet combat that add modifiers based on a matrix comparason to the enemy's doctrine. Allow custom races to pick the Super trait of their choice
I know these are mnor annoyances but... Rename the Super Dominator trait to Colonial Militia, because thats all those corvettes really represent. Rename Galactic Privateer to Galactic Convoys, since it is all about keeping convoys safe. A true privateer wonder would reduce your enemy's trade and give you a cut of that reduction as privateers are actually licensed 'pirates'
To me cheats are a a great substitute for kicking the dog after a crappy day at work when one just feels a need to crush something like a bug...
ROE and Doctrine is a good way to go as well as researching tactics that add offense, defense, etc to the engagement like Hearts of Iron doctrines. Also from Hearts of Iron is the concept of leaders with ratings that are assigned to fleets and have specialities, say fleet engagement, spotter, planitary assault
I can live without carriers, afterall the US is even now saying that the F-22 is likely to be the last manned fighter. Add on sophiscated sensors and fire control computers and a single seat fighter a la a Viper or X-Wing would be skeet at an Olypic skeet shooting competion. At best you would have unmanned attack drones, with missles being the more likely replacement for fighters. What I can't live with is how planitary assault works. I would love to see a Moo 2 or SE IV style of plan
Guess they should rename this ability to "Colonial Militia" or "Space Volkstrum". Might be a nice game flavour for a star federation representing each colony's militia. Also guess the drengren race fiel should be modded to give them first strike instead. BTW: What are those covettes outfitted with?
Looking at the events, both the ones in the game and the library, I have noted that the concept of good and evil is very much that of the late 20th century Western values. One can view the as a form of chavinism as one is judging according to the values of our current culture. According to the game all major Western nations of the19th Century would be considered evil for their treatment of the various indigenous people and the environment. All the US founding fathers are evil by GC standards.
The subject says it all Thanks
While GalCiv addresses 2 of my three pet peeves, there is still third one which is that there is no incentive to build a balanced fleet. I would love to see the Battle Group concept where if you assembled a force with a big ship and a screen of smaller ships you'd have a tactical edge. Cool would also be the concept of assigning light ships to sector patrol and commerce raiding within a sector. With the ration between the two determining the odds of a freighter intercepted and the odds of an en
