I am having the same issue about midy way into the game. here is what i am running with VISTA (64)- AMD Phenom 9950 Quad-Core Processor 2.61GHz Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 4 GB of ram i did try one thing that did help a little. My base ratting was at 1.0 due to my graphic i changed my graphic to be for top Performance, it it set my base to 5.9, and it help but i am still lagging big time when we hit the 5 planet mark.
