I'm probably in the minority but I find the Dread Lord main campaign (I think it's the Dark Avatar campaign, not sure) no fun at all. I agree. However, for me, it's the lack of continuity that turns me off of the campaigns. Every single mission you have to start over. The missions need to be more progressive. I shouldn't have to research warp drive 6 different times, every single mission. It makes the game feel stale and repetitive. It also doesn't mak

Also, my wife is not a CASUAL gamer. She HATES video games. She wants a Wii. That kind of gimmick, that would make someone who does not like video games want to purchase it, is exactly what will make it a success. You prove my point exactly, she HATES video games, yet wants a Wii. How convoluted is that? People such as your wife are the exact reason the system will be a distant third in the console wars. I realize th
The difference is that my wife wants a Wii. She does not want a 360 or a PS3. So, Wii has a chance. I realize that many CASUAL gamers like the Wii and the novelty it brings. I think that is what is driving these early sales. However, like I said, the Wii is going to be in trouble once the casual gamers have moved on to the next novel gadget. The hardcore audie
Stardock is NOT pathetic. Perhaps you're having trouble getting the update, however, this does not make Stardock the main culprit. I have used SDC since the first GalCiv and once I became used to it and how it worked I have never had a problem since. You seem to be new to it so I understand your initial frustration. Frustration should not lead to grand generalizations, as Stardock is trying to solve your problem with timely responses to your posts. If they were truly pathetic they would not ev
I think the Wii is going to be in serious trouble as time marches on and the PS3 and 360 start to fulfill their potential. I really don't understand all the hype around it. Besides the novel, and in my opinion gimmicky, controls what is the strength of this system? Graphics? This thing isn't even HD, what a joke. It looks really dated and will only get worse in the next few years. I know graphics aren't the most important factor in gaming, but come on, games look horrible on this thing. Right
I've been playing UFO: Extraterrestrials for about a month and it's the closest to the original X-com that I've seen. It's literally a copy of the first x-com. There are also a few excellent mods that take the experience even closer to the original. Graphics look dated and the developer seems to have abandoned the project after the first patch, but if your itching for original x-com action you should check it out. It's a shame the devs seem finished with it, but no one can expect the same kin

Decent review of the game......I would only add that E.A. needs to improve the flow of the game. Right now the action is a bit "jumpy" and not very smooth. It runs better on current gen. How can this be? This game still feels rushed to me. There is no owner mode! I bet we'll see the next-gen version we all want next season when PS3 is out. I just think E.A. isn't motivated to make a great next-gen Madden until they can cross platform it. It's the nature of the beast. <img src="http://images.star
I've spoken to the Dread Lords multiple times in the campaign. They make peace with the Dregnin and Yor, and then I'm able to speak with them. However, they don't seem too willing to make any deal with me.
I have the exact same problem occuring. A few months ago several people complained about this, including myself. It was thought that using a microsoft wireless keyboard causes the problem. Are you using this kind of keyboard? I'm not sure if updating the drivers will fix the issue, but it has been talked about before on the forums.
The differences are mainly in how they act. Each race has it's own Artificial Intellegence, so each acts differently from the others That's not the point of the topic, the point is how it feels when I play as the different races, and I feel that they are all to similar. It is not a large enough disti
I have to agree with Kirill, and I've been playing GC (1&2) since the early days. It seems as though in the beginning of a game there is a difference between races, however, as the game progresses everything seems to get homogonized until little distiction remains. There needs to be specific racial abilities exclusive to an individual race. Not just the generic "+10 econ" which any race can get with research or discovering an anomoly, etc. I also
I'm having the exact same problem, and I do have a wireless microsoft keyboard. It's driving me crazy, anytime I type anything (ship names, planet names, etc.) every few characters that crazy Y thing keeps popping up. Annoying......
Zero G Sports Arena says it has a 55% bonus to moral, Virtual Reality centers only have a 40% moral bonus, even though VR centers are a more advanced tech. Doesn't make sense to research, and upgrade my Zero G arena to a VR center when a VR center gives me a smaller bonus. I'm playing the latest version of the game, and I noticed this during the campaign. I'm not sure if it's isolated to the campaign or if it's a persistant error. <br

I found out the propaganda sliders were taken out for the final. Controlling moral will be difficult without it. Hopefully it will make a comeback at a later date.....hint...hint....
Thank you for ending my frustration Dewwar. (Sort of)
I posted this on another thread, but this thread seems good for it. My question: Where are the sliders to adjust propaganda on a planet? (you know, like GC1) That was on of the ways I kept my pop. happy in the original game. In the manual for GC2, on page 31 under "planetary Details," it talks about propaganda, but where is it?
Never mind, I just remapped my scroll wheel to be the middle mouse button.
In the manual it talks about propaganda spending on your planets (like GC1) but I've yet to be able to find the slider to adjust this anywhere. Maybe it's just during the campaign because that's all I've been playing. Anyone know?
I was wondering if there is another way to pan the camea besides the middle mouse button? My mouse only has two buttons and a scroll wheel.
