Thanks! BailKnights makes certain things look cartoony to me, so I used the modders folder. It always locked up my game when I tried to enable it until I deleted all the .entity files in the GameInfo folder. I removed them since the last version I was using did not have .entity files in the GameInfo folder, just the explosiondata file. Hopefully I didn't lose anything I was meant to keep.

Sins of a Solar Empire fits this for me as a recenty buy. I bought on a whim due to owning Stardock's Galactic Civilizations II. I figured a $30 game would be mildly enjoyable for a couple evenings. I knew nothing about the reviews or awards, and I wasn't looking for a serious game, just something to fix my boredom for a little while. What a gem. Ironclad did a great job. Vampire: The Masquerade I bought years back. I hadn't heard of it and was wandering around bored looking for a gam

As the post hints, by and large we will only see two of these. Home Premium and Pro. Most of us are not considered to be in an emerging market, so we won't see Starter. The other two are more exclusive, with availability being restricted. So just two versions for us average folk -- Home Premium and Professional.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I've been finding Impulse convenient and a rather refreshing change from the norm. I rarely care to keep track of my discs besides putting them in a shelf or box somewhere, and launching from Impulse lets me know immediately when an update is available. I can launch the games either with or without Impulse, and any other game I'd have to go find the update executable myself to update it. It was pretty easy to load Impulse up on both our home PC's. It's better than

I used this to convert from BIN to TXT and then back: http://postdownload.filefront.com/12831279//c0ef2dfdcbfe4192e8ab896497d5639d2c83392d995364e18d30ba8530e72383e8cd4bdd0c286f7e It is basically a UI for the converter already in your Sins of a Solar Empire directory. Be aware that it assumes ConvertData.exe is in C:\Program Files\St

I liked Galactic Civilizations and I really didn't think I'd enjoy Sins of a Solar Empire so much. Thank you Stardock and Iron Clad for the many hours of enjoyment I've had and will have with your games in the future. You guys are great! [e digicons]\o/[/e] You guys are also such models in your stance against software protection (among other things). You're levelheaded and reason as both developers and fellow gamers.

For those that noticed this stopped working with Entrenchment, just make a copy of player_portrait_large.tga and rename that copy player_portrait_large.dds and it'll start working again. If that's common sense, I apologize. I had to investigate to figure it out.

Yarr! Power to the pirates! [e digicons]:andrew:[/e] I'd love to see them become something more in later games. I'm new to the game and at first I was desperate to pay them to fight the AI. But later on they became easily ignorable. Changing the AI difficulty doesn't seem to make them any better either. [e digicons]:([/e]

The manual mentions them being at the core of our galaxy. "Beginning at the galactic core, the empire expanded uniformly, and brought hundreds of alien races under its control." They travelled pretty far to get to our little spot in the galaxy. [e digicons]o_O[/e]
