I figured since it is inevitable, I will start a thread to get ideas out on a star wars mod. Who will the sides be? What will the map look like? Units? Tech? etc.

Thats great idea, they were in a homeworld2 mod, EAW annoyed me with their third faction.

Yeah, the Consortium was a half-assed "be the really bad guy" thing. Almost anyone would have been better than them, even the Ssi-Ruu or Yevetha.

Hell, I was glad when the Yuuzhan Vong attacked. The whole Rebellion/New Republic and Empire blowing each other up was really just getting annoying at that point. Star Wars needed a change before everyone got sick of the same stuff.

I agree with the third race in EAWFOC, i went back to a modded version of EAW because i hated the consortium. They annoyed the hell outta me

lol i just looked to all 6 episodes and see some uncorrect things in star wars empire at war forces of corruption ^^

the executer super star destroyer was destroyed in battle above endor and not survived uit like in the game

at this point I am concentrating on the New Republic, If a skilled modder is willing to do the rigging work we can expand out to the clone wars factions very easily and the Vong would be easy as well (all the art exists, it is just a lot of work to get it in game)

GEEK=my brother, he lives in my moms basement, has at least 500 star wars "action figures" watches episodes 4-6 at the very least once per week, quotes the movies for real life problems, and insists the force is real. (also hes played the movies on mute before and done all of the dialog himself, it was weird)

yeas i needed to rewatch the movies to know that its like 5 years ago i watched those i love star wars but youre brother aetoa1 has NO LIFE

i play star wars knights of the old republic 1 and 2
1 i get but 2 WTF most complicated story ive seen i don't get a thing of whas hapening lol

new republic should have he rebel alliance ships like the mon calemari cruisers also remnants of the empire should have the same ship so just put

You're posting on an Internet forum on the website for a sci-fi RTS game, discussing the minutia of creating a mod for a Star Wars mod of incredible depth, with people concerned with making the ships direct translations from their home universe to another. I think it's safe to assume 99% of the people who have posted are geeks, nerds, or dorks (and I have my own personal definition of each).

Though, I admit, Aeroa1's brother kinda takes the cake

Not to worry though, I've known EJ's work for years and years now, and I trust him to get the models right. ;)

I'm already enjoying the release he's put out already, even though 1 star destroyer is sweeping across the galaxy on its own. :D

Even started on working on a Star Wars map. So far only gotten the Coruscant, Tatoo, Alderaan, Corellian, and Calamari star systems though.

Questions: How many star systems can you make?
I'm going for a huuuuuge map. ;)

Yeah. His mod will have some of the biggest, most epic ships ever. A Xin Battleship dwarfs standard vanilla ships, even capitals. And it's not even a Titan.....

I am doing the same thing. I have a simple and "complex" version of the EAW map up and running, using 7DS. The complex version needs more testing though. Currently working on a deeper version of that galaxy for starters. If it works, I plan on much, much, more along the lines of variety.

Ah, cool.

Any preview images or test downloads out there yet? :)

I'm just using Galaxy Forge and scouring the web for more or less accurate "coordinates" for the various star systems, aswell as other orbiting bodies around the same sun.

For instance, the Coruscant System has 11 satelites orbiting, but not all of them are habitable. Only 2 of them are temperate and habitable, and the rest are gas giants and barren rocks.
The Corellian System on the other hand has 7 satelites and 5 of them are habitable. And 2 of those again orbit eachother while they travel around the sun. Haven't tested this system out yet though.

I did notice that Galaxy Forge creates the maps upside down, so I will have to create a mirror galaxy.

May I suggest the map in the EaW:FoC mod Phoenix Rising? The mod creator tries to stick to canon as much as balance, gameplay, and the EaW engine allow. The largest map has a full 137 planets as close to the correct coordinates he could make.
