I know I'm probably bringing up a pointless arguement here, given Diplomacy's release and all, but a few things have changed in the last TWO years...
Many more of us are sporting dual monitor goodness. But beyond that, current video cards do have the horsepower to drive two screens, at least when crazy resolutions aren't being selected. My Quadro FX 3600M seems to do just fine with two 24" wides @ 1900x1200, and that's not even really a gaming card. (Yes, it does quite nicely with DCC/CAD as well...)
One of the first posts in this thread covered the issue quite nicely, it would be really nice to have a Large scale map on one monitor with the various menus etc, with the other monitor supporting the ability to zoom full range. Being able to move menus around to customizable positions goes without saying... (whoops, I did say it...)
I guess the last thing I would say is that I would give another $9.99 expansion pack fee for something that addressed this kind of thing...
Yeah, I know, wishful thinking, but I can always ask...
I've been using dual monitors for a couple of years now. A cheap setup is to just get a smaller CRT for $25 at a local shop, and use that as your 2nd until you find a cheap deal on a 2nd LCD.
Anyway, I just recently bought Sins and am getting ready to start playing. I was really hoping this one would have dual support, but....
For the Devs: Generally speaking for RTS, or any game for that matter, especially if you're limited on time, the secondary display could be limited to low res, and simple stuff, like stats, setup/config, low motion overview and maps. Surely setting that up wouldn't be too hard........would it?
As this game and expansions seem to have gotten great reviews, it would be really great to see it given dual support, even if we have to wait awhile.
