Ok so I am just throwing this idea out there because I am a Halo fanatic and I think that this game could easily incorporate the Halo universe into it. I am not a very good designer but I can provide support and more ideas. There are already two races that could easily be changed into the Humans and the Covenant( TEC and Advent). All we would have to do would be to change ships some and add  gauss guns to most TEC Cap ships. I know this might take a long time but if it means that we will finally have a Halo space combat game then it will be well worth it.

We can use it as a scout unit for the Covanent. Its from Contact Harvest book. Its not listed in the starships list. The place I found it was Contact Harvest, but the transmission on the side makes it seem like its from the second battle of Earth. Either way, I caution you that there is some "Laguage" in it.

If we had high charity it would be a space station size ship rather then a planet (mostly for the game to work ya know). It would have no weapons but would provide a huge standing bonus to any fleets around it.

If we added it this way there would have to be a few things.
1. extreamly expensive (but useful of course) and also long building.
2. bonus would have to amount to cost.
3. very low speed, 5-10 minutes to cross a gravity well making it more of a choke point type ship.

As for bonuses id say something like, double regen on everything for all ships in gravity well and some skills.

If that would make it too big a thing to have even late in a game then the other alternative is to make it basically a massive carrier but instead of fighters it produces CCS battleships, like 10-15 at a time around it.

As for shielded UNSC ships. i saw one fandom ship like this with plasma torpedos too. Didnt look good the way they did it but it would be cool to have maybe one of them as a capital ship type ship.

It should also push back cultrue by... ALOT. That is if we have culture.

Make sure on the flood ships that you can see little "pus bags" and "Tenticales".

A High Charity type vessel should be either the frigate colony ship or the capital colony ship. Whichever slot is not taken by the High Charity is filled in by an agricultural support ship.

Covenant assault carrier didn't show up at and all and the CCS had the same problem as the original. I recommend u get xsi mod tool, if only to view your work

WOW....WOW....WOW....WOW.... i cant believe that i started tis. hey guys sorry i havent been on before now but my computer crashed totally and my parents wouldnt buy a new one X-( so..... this is absolutely amazing work canadaman and fife and everyone else. Glad to have another person so enthusiastic about the Halo Mod here. Alot of the gaps have been filled and if you've read most of the pages on this thread, you'll see that some pretty good ideas have been tossed around(my personal favorite, the halo ring/ark scenario). Though our original coder, Acolyte, disappeared.

Also for caps you could make a special having temporary shields because of the unsc shield platform.

Also the spirit of fire could be like the akkatan (its the akkatan that colonizes right?) The hood class as the marza

For the research branch

As i said before, the Gettysburg update-faster slipdrives.

Also faster sub light travel- covenant armor found

Faster repair- the covenant engineers (they dont care who they work 4)

Also 1 last thing, we might need to extend the number of caps allowed as they are a lot more dominant in halo

shields should be a high level research subject(6 or 7), but we shouldn't give to much otherwise the balance of having incredibly cheap ships is gone. Slipspace, hull, and MAC should be the main research subjects
