Mobile Seige and Missile platforms ( cap ship special abilities )

I have been making a mod for myself that rebalances the cap ships to a major player in the game and boosts the planetary deffenses and while testing it i had the idea that i wanted to boost the missile platform the carrier ejects durring combat and to my suprise it had a mobility function so i tapped in some numbers, saved it and booted the mod and to my suprise it make for a decent little ship with phase jumping ability!

I think it would come in handy as a scout befor jumping to your next target instead of using a scout. I also made the same mod to the seige platform cant remeber which race uses it but i thought this might be an interesting mode for folks that want to make a form of mobile shipyard.

That is a very interesting idea. you could use the seige platform as a scouting probe... it would be really cool if you could add active cloaking to it but i dont think this game has that feture.

Well, uh, yeah. The frigate spawn instantactiontype can spawn any frigate.

Hmm, just made me thing, a Cruiser that could dump missile or siege platforms might make for a nifty ship.

Yeah, your only limiting factor here is that annoying '4 abilities per ship' hard cap.

I really, really hope they change that system to allow skill 'tree' options. Like the way building frigates/structures works now, click on one button get access to several abilities...

Having the way the fully mod-able graphical UI is set up determine how unit abilities are implemented seems really silly to me....
