[edit] I apologize for assuming the problem was Sins fault. It turned out my problem was simply my video card overheating, due to a major buildup of dust in the fan. I cleaned it and it works better now. It just goes to show that the one time you don't check the obvious stuff first, you will miss something obvious! Boy do I feel stupid!
I just bought Sins, and it does not work. It seemed to install fine, and the game loads, but it usually only runs for about 2 minutes before it crashes. The crash usually involves a full system lock (requires holding power to turn off), and music continues to play.
I'm sad about this, especially because the demo version worked fine on my computer. So why would the demo work, and the full version not?
I'm guessing it's some stupid compatibility issue that was mucked up in an update, so I'd like to play a version of Sins that's more demo-like.
I see this as a temporary solution, both because I expect a sofwtware update to eventually FIX this problem, as opposed to causing more, and because I have a new computer on order anyway. By this time next week I will be playing on my new rig, and odds are the same compatibility issue will be gone.
Until then, what can I do to fix this? My current system is a 1.8ghz amd cpu with a geforece 6600GT on XP pro. Yes, I know its the minimum, but it SHOULD work. What's more, at one point it did work! Of course, my drivers are all new.
