This should be done. We, the rabid followers of the Master Chief, hath spoken.
(really, this is a good idea.)
(really, this is a good idea.)
damn strait.
ahh whats halo wars ![]()
i guess i getting to old for this
A halo Real Time Strategy game, being made by Ensamble (The makers of Age of Empires 3)
Wait. This means Halogen can live again!
MS said Halo Wars is 360 ONLY, period. C&C Generals, is PC only. Doesn't that make Halogen and Halo Wars non-competing, since one is 360 exclusive and one is PC exclusive?
Ok, I will admit halo is a little overhyped but it is a good game and is great for passing the time on live and its great at parties and for you to say that go die just, go die. Please for your sake.
Granted, while I'm not a big fan of halo, and do find it repetitive and only truly fun when playing with friends either on/offline (I'm fairly certain Halo 3 was made to get more people to subscribe to Xbox LIVE), that doesn't mean that a Halo space-based RTS isn't a horrible thing.
While Halo is, as you said, an FPS, turning it into a space-based RTS would be quite new and different. Sure, it contains stuff from Halo and is based on the series, but were you ever able to control space ships in Halo? Conduct a large-scale battle in the orbit of a planet? watch as Covenant and UNSC fighters commit themselves to a wonderfully beautiful dogfight? Were you ever the one to order the glassing of an entire planet?
The answer is, simply put, no.
Thus, what Halo Wars is doing for ground combat, Halo: (insert catchy title) would be doing the same thing with space combat. So before you start b!tc/-/ing and moaning about 'Oh god, ANOTHER Halo game', actually try to think over the contents of the game and what the gameplay would be like.
"Ugh, this should NOT be done. Ever.
Halo is a repetitive, boring fps with a cheesy storyline and characters filled with a preteen crowd of brats with no friends and adhd.
It's an overplayed over hyped game that's only fun at parties."
for a game thats "over hyped" it sure has sold a shit-load of games ON ITS 1ST DAY! & bsides, as "bad" as halo is, i havent found a single FPS thats better, & most arent even as good
I agree.. Halo is a uninspired universe.. And there are many many way better universes out there.. Warhammer 40k for instance is way more interesting, and ironically enough few know abou tit.
Sales does not mean its good.. It had a multi million dollar commercial campaign behind it witht elikes we have ever seen.. I suppose McDonalds must be amazing food after all it out sells most resturantes..
THe majority of gaming websites disagree, game sites like Gamespot for instance found Crysis, Half-Life 2, for example to be far superior.
What a beautiful source huh? The same site that fired its Chief Editor for writing a poor review on one of its highest paying sponsors. Gamespot is NOT credible.
If halo 3 is such a bad game, why is it the #1 played game daily? (on 360, and it competes with CoD4).
Well, Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, and Gears of War are really the only multiplayer-based games on 360 that don't completely suck (unlike Shadowrun).
Out of those three, Halo 3 is the only one with gravity hammers and energy swords. Plus something about Halo attracts complete morons who have parents that don't mind paying for their kids' XBL. I guess its the energy swords and gravity hammers. Plus you have shields that regenerate fairly fast, meaning killing anyone with any ability to run and hide is hard.
Halo 3 is easy for noobs to play, so they play it.
CoD 4 takes skill, so noobs avoid it.
why not just let games be what they are? halo is supposed to be for all audiances so they made it noob friendly so accept that. Gears of war, if you have a good group of friends in the game who dont act stupid then you have an enjoyable time. CoD is well, you know, just amazing, It scares noobs. Shadowrun is great for CTF people but Shadowrun+more maps+more game types+awesomeness for everyone else. Games are designed for a specific groups of people, sont bitch if you dont fall in the group its designed for. Bitch if it doesnt even work for its own target audiance
actually, for halo 3, ive only seen a handful of tv commercials for it, almost nothing more online except for whats on gaming websites. & as far as the universe goes, Warhammer 40k is a poor excuse as "better" in my opinion, its older & while it may have been original in some ways when it was produced, most of it has been seen over & over again since then
ive played both CoD4 & Gears & i still like Halo 3 more than both of those games, not bcause it has energy swords & gravity hammers, but bcause its faster paced than gears & in some ways it takes more skill than both those games. btw its not that hard 2 kill some1 who can "run & hide" u see halo 3 has some wonderful stuff like "plasma grenades" & "shotguns" & a personal favorite of mine, the sniper rifle any1 who is any good @ games can kill in a single shot w/ those weapons
Tell you the truth, if you really, I mean REALLY, took the time to delve deep into the plot and storyline of Halo, you'd be surprised at how many highly intellectual, non-ADHD people are fascinated by it. And I don't just mean the storyline of the games, I mean the books as well. Take a look at this page, and then say how bratty and preteen we all are. http://halostory.bungie.org/news.html
So say the guy posting in a computer space strategy video game's forums. Some would say, a nerd speaking about other nerds
I do agree with you for the most part, though I would use different adjectives. But I only wish to say that.
If the mod is fun, then I'll probably play it. So that leaves the question... is there actually a mod in progress (forgive me if I do not wish to read this entire topic and the other, or others if plural is needed, topic out there. I am just curious more than anything else. So be it if no one wishes to reply to my laziness).

Okay, I just skimmed the rest of this topic. Perhaps I will address my question in a different one as this seems to have boiled down to *ahem* ... discussions... about what makes a good game, FPS, Scifi Universe, and so forth.
The only comment I would like to add is that I still believe Goldeneye 007 (yes, that's right: N64 Goldeneye!) is the best FPS of all time, but I tend to stick to things that started a new wave- in this case, First Person Shooters. I do not know what was the first FPS but Goldeneye is close to the top, if not, the top. I was dual wielding an RCP-90 and a Grenade Launcher in the Jungle long before Master Chief had two Needlers (and then lost them when his superiors said he was beating the Cov. too badly). So suck it Trebek! Err, Chief... I mean that in a friendly way and do not imply the more negative things that have been said here. It is my humble opinion, for what it may be worth, that Bond > Chief.
And that's my two cents.

What I had meant by "with a preteen crowd of brats with no friends and adhd." is that the vast majority of the players are over-hyper 12 year olds, who have nothing better than to play halo all day, use as much laungauge as possible, and talk as fast as they can while drinking sugered drinks.
Halo isn't a bad game, but I wouldn't say it's a good game either. It's easy to pick up and have a good time, if you're playing with friends. I tried the live-thing once before when I stayed the night with a friend, and couldn't have a bit of fun with it.
Just because a game is over-hyped doesn't mean it's bad either, it just means it gets more credit than what it's worth.
