I just used it for fun on my own fleet, because I had won the game and the enemy had not attacked and noticed two things:
1) my capships got experience from me destroying nothing by my own ships via the starbase. seems strange. if it's not too much effort, I'd want that changed. somehow seems wrong. in a way, you could ... well, ok, no, that would be too stupid and crazy.
2) uh, the infocard to the ability says 'cooldown 60 seconds'. err, am I missing something or is a cooldown for a suicide ability somewhat redundant. except that if you can abort it and then it takes 60 secs to be available again. but it detonates fairly fast, si doubt it.
I know, minor points, but you know, 'details are everything'.
