Clan seen breaks into either the good ones who are invite only or the not so good ones that are more social but will let people in. Main "competitive" ones at the moment are BIA, DT and DU.
If you want to be competitive and play in the skilled matches, learn the game, and play the PUG matches (if you don't know what these are you'll find out soon enough). You will learn who the good players are and if you are good they will learn who you are. If someone thinks you are good enough you will then get an invite.
The game has an older audience it seems - most players are 20-40 age group rather then kids, so the leet speak is substantially less...
Final pointer - the game does have a learning curve. I played someone 1v1 who said he was a tactical genius and was good at other RTS games (e.g. Starcraft) - I destroyed him totally - the game plays out slightly different to many RTS games. Moral here is that you can learn and be good but don't assume being good at game X = good at Sins...
