New to mapping, couple questions

Hi! I'm new to mapping, so I've got a few questions that I couldn't find the answers to elsewhere. I'll probably come up with more as I struggle through this first map.

1. Does a star system NEED a pirate base? I'm kind of nitpicky about the asthetics of my map and it'd throw off the cool lotus/spiral thing I've got going on.

2. Is there a way to set things such that no matter where the players are on the lobby/team choosing area, if they're on team x they get put on spots a, b, c, d, and e, and if they're on team y they get put on spots f, g, h, i, and j?

example:

Player1 Team1

Player2 Team2

Player3 Team1

Player4 Team2

Player5 Team1

Player6 Team2

Player7 Team1

Player8 Team2

Player9 Team1

Player10 Team2

So basically if they decided to do an every-other arrangement to balance teams, is there a way to make sure that team1 ends up on the first star and team2 ends up on the second?

Oh yeah, info about my map - I'm probably going to call it Fire vs. Ice or something like that and it will have team1 starting on the left star and team2 starting on the right one. There will be wormhole jumps to the star in the center which serves as a fighting ground and gateway to a fourth and fifth star system which are full of the resources necessary to wage an epic battle.

Thanks in advance,

set each player to the team number in galaxyforge edit players, that should work the way you want

Okay, just making sure that that works even in that instance. What if the players use team 3 and 4? Would that cause the same result?

Thanks for the speedy reply.

A. Pirate bases are not required. If you have no pirate bases in any solar system, the pirates just start out dead (like you had them turned off). Free Advice: This may have been fixed, but if you have all the pirate bases in systems without players starting in them, you might end up having the pirate raids get stuck at the pirate bases, giving them 100s of ships at their base instead of the usual defense force.

B. I always thought it was the player slot, not the team, but I haven't used it in a long time...

I have created a map with 3 teams of two and the teams did land on the home planets desired

Thanks again for the replies. GoaFan77; that makes me think of some truly epic battles - you could access the pirate system through a one-way wormhole!
