you can't see the missiles probalby to conserve graphics space, as well as game space. i think it would be pretty annoying to see missiles everywhere from LRFs instead of the actual ships themselves, as missiles will outnumber ships in that case
so... make the glow smaller than the ship? as it stands, at the right zoom level, you can still see weapons fire (lasers etc) while some of the smaller ships have already converted to their icon display... im not talking about anything huge here, but just enough to see missiles at something larger than a zoom as if i was riding the damn missile myself.
The volumetric explosions mod has nice bright missile effects.
yeah, i know, i got this idea from one of those mods... but why should people have to run a mod to get an effect that could be implemented by the devs in their sleep, and generally have a positive effect on the community at large?
if i'm mistaken please correct me, but i thought the OP was talking about missile graphics when not zoomed in
like i said above, at the right level of zoom, you can still see some, if not most weapon effects, but for missiles and even auto cannons to a degree, you cant see those weapons firing unless you zoom right in. Autocannons are not as important, but missiles are quite powerful in the arsenals of both the Vasari and TEC, so seeing them should be quite important...
I'm thinking like a big red crosshair the size of MB range. Really just something big and visible just before the missiles start popping out so you can see it from a good distance
that sounds good, except i dont like the idea of it denoting the range of the MB, that just sorta ruins it, as no other AoE ability has a warning effect that also denotes range... its like, haha, im about to MB your ass, oh, but just in case you were wondering, this is its max range so by all means please try and get out of the way...
however, i like the idea of something big and visible, like other abilities have hands pushing out from the cap or the volatile nanites have that golden cloud effect, of just random rays of light shining out of the cap or a big green oval envelops a ship, i think something of comparable or slightly larger size would be good, a crosshair like you said would be good, or a triangle sign with missiles spewing out... it doesnt really matter, but something big and cosmic is also needed for MB. regardless, though, i would still like missiles to glow so you can see them in combat
We could have the a nice load defcon style warning siren each time one fires... Though that might bee slightly out of place in space
i dont have a problem with a sound effect in addition to a visual cue, but sometimes i play with sound muted while watching TV (i have a laptop) and im pretty sure other people would have similar situations, so an exclusively audio cue could be useless...
idn, i think there are alot of mods with good things that could be brought to the game that the devs should maybe look at, at least for Sins 2, if they ever consider it. however i think the things in a graphics mod is something that should seriously be looked at for consideration for being implemented as standard
