Well, I got this very interesting, and IMO AWESOME idea for a SoaSE mod. Unfortunately for non-Entrenchment users, this will need Entrenchment. Sorry. Entrenchment has more modding versatility.
Here's a basic rundown- the vanilla races are replaced with somewhat-couterpart like races. Many fighter types rescripted as frigates, to allow long-range fighter operation. Some frigates/cruisers/capitals removed, as fighter-frigates (my term, get ur own) are now attackable by any weapon and are also the primary ship type to be employed. Most ship types would remain. Waystations&Outposts replace Starbases; WSs&OPs are weaker but the SB count will be altered so that different GWs can accomodate different #s of SBs.
Waystation vs. Outpost- Waystations are unarmed, and invulnerable. They serve anyone and everyone. I may introduce a researchable tech to allow them to be captured (unlikely). Outposts are faction-specific, and are of different types.
The factions- Mercenary Trading Guild (MTG), System Defense Navy (SDN), Vasari Remnant Mercenaries (VRM), and one based on the Advent I haven't thought of yet.
A lot of what I want to do with this mod would make it a bit more role-play oriented, but still have strategic aspect. There would also be few colonizable planets. Civil Outposts can be upgraded to house populations.
Anyways, what are some ideas that you have, or comments/questions, or even criticisms you have. I am not trying to make Sins an RPG or a free-form game, just try and add some elements from the latter to the former.
