Last person to post wins, unless they are a moderator or admin.

Basically, this game is played so that the last person who post wins. What do they win? The ThreadKiller's Achievement; The honor of being the last person to post by virtue of the content of their post. However, moderators, admins, and anyone else who has the ability to lock the thread are disqualified from winning the ThreadKiller's Achievement, if they win by locking. If the thread is won by method of locking, the "winner" gains the Achievement Of Reprehensible Epic Lameness.

Rather then load multiple maps, a better way may be to take advantage of what's already in place.  Save Files.  Since all of the player information is recorded in these, if a campaign mode was to be set up, all that would really be required for a persistent style of game play would be to autosave when you quit the map (complete it), then recall the specific lines that state your credits, ore, crystal, researched techs, and ships and use those instead of using new values when the next map is loaded up.  None of the information related to the planets themselves need to be carried over because you're in a new system.

In this manner, you keep your mobile fleet, you keep your saved income, and you keep your research.  All that would be required is for you to take over a planet and start building your empire up again.  Build new shipyards and research stations, get that economy going again and pick up where you left off.  The only drawback I can tell so far is that P.O.S. percentage of income lost because of fleet research.  I personally believe that percentage should be based off of the number of ships you actually have, not how many you could have.  Granted, if you have no income you don't lose any, but if you failed to bank enough resources in the previous map, it could make the current one impossibly difficult to get enough replacement ships to the front lines early on.

so basically you would have to make sure that you carry your logistics with you

But you can't because in this game logistics are planet based, not fleet based, and going to a whole new set of planets means you need to make sure you've banked enough to hold you over until you get it all set up again...  Which is actually extremely realistic if you think about it.

true, so you care over a seed packet, the bigger the better

:)  Thank you for the interesting ideas, i didn't know about save games, it would be interesting to see if we could actually carry that info over to a new map and how to go about it.

Sounds not only cool, but you make it sound do-able. That would be something to look into.

:)

With Starcraft, I especially liked the ability to put in custom mission briefings and story bits in-game. I created my own 30 mission set which was suppose to follow the exploits of those abandoned on Char, called Starcraft: Exodus. Then Brood Wars came along and that went out the window. I should have done something like Starcraft: Insurrection, where it was separated from the main story.

In any case, when I think of a campaign, I don't necessarily think of logistics or military carrying over (like Homeworld), just story occurring between isolated missions (like Starcraft). Currently, I don't see any way to pull that off cohesively.

it was a nice ballad... kinda.

And no, Ryat, this game has a goal. The banned game has no end goal. That and whenever we're lucky enough to see that one emo kid leave (forgetting his name now), Morph insists on filling his shoes with no room for discussion. Just getting tired of it.

Btw, did I read right? Is it Teal's birthday?

yeah, well the emo kid stuck around at the chatroom thread though now that is haunted by a kid with multiple personalities and accoutns, it's quite hilarious

Actually, AFAIK the emo kid is gone.

The schizo kid is still being used for various lulzy purposes. Did I happen to mention how I gain a sadistic pleasure from taunting people who cannot respond in an effective manner (or really at all)?
