6 8 More Maps for 5v5
(See post #21 for more details about the 4 additional maps--they are now part of the AutoInstaller at TinyURL.com/Sins9.)
I have just finished work on a new map pack containing 6 new maps with six starting position variations for five of the maps making for a pack with a total of 31 maps. Sorry pirate lovers, these maps don't have pirate bases. I think that The Mosh Pit, Kaleidoscope, Death~a~Whirl, and Circle of Death are the ones most likely to get played. Death~a~Whirl might be particularly interesting since it offers a workable multistar map for 5v5 where everyone starts at the same star.

The New Maps
The Mosh Pit: This is probably the best of the bunch and it only has one player starting alignment with each team starting on opposite sides of the star. Theoretically, anyone on the team could go eco as long as people are properly assigned to fight for certain areas on the map. The action takes place in the middle though it's difficult to designate any particular planets as choke points since ten planets connect to the star.
Kaleidoscope: This is basically just a huge random single star map that might be a candidate to replace the huge random single star for pugs. This map does have many planets but the home planets are only separated by three asteroids, so putting effort into colonization can make you vulnerable to attack. Comes with six starting position variations.
Circle of Death: This is a donut map; it's circular and hollow in the middle. So, if you need to migrate you're probably fucked. Comes with six starting position variations.
Death~a~Whirl: Think Circle of Death but with access to the sun and three (!) bonus mini-star system swirls to jazz it up. Now you can migrate if you need to. Who will fight along the circle and who will fight for the bonus systems? Comes with six starting position variations.
Nowhere to Hide: This is a donut map that is straight and to the point. You won't find any ice, volcanic, or desert planets here, just home terrans separated from other home terrans by four roids. It is completely linear in these regards and might be suitable for locked 10-man FFA.
Buzzsaw: This is like Nowhere to Hide except home terrans are separated by only three asteroids but everyone gets an ice and a volcanic.
