Alright! I was thrilled to see some new maps, and I like them!
The 5 person symetrical Nemesis FFA is great idea. But one homeworld is getting shorted. The top right terran home doesn't have a phase lane to the central Volcano, like all the other homes do. The map is obviously meant to be balanced, or symetrical, but that missing link gives that one homeworld a slight disadvantage. (Note. a quick way to see a map layout is: start the game/map, then immediately "Surrender", but chose to "Keep Playing" and you can see all. Artifacts too!)
For Quickstart, it is interesting that you have chosen to maximize logistic & tactical upgrades, rather than 'infrastructure', in the 5 new maps. These two upgrades are a 'higher dolllar' start, than the typical Quickstart, and also results in the spawning of 2 extra constructors within a couple minutes (for 4 constructors). It could potentially mean 4 labs being build at the start, and immediate rushing toward Heavy Cruisers. But I think I like the change.
As I reported regarding the Double Cross map, which was subsequently fixed in the previous patch, Quickstart is still doing wierd things on a couple other maps: Triumvirate and Blind Side are getting doubled starts (2 Cap ship factories, etc). On Blind Side, the asteroid is recieving more logistic structures than it is upgraded for, and the planet starts with negative income (no "civilian infrastructure" upgrade either). I know, these are minor complaints, and people have got along fine with these maps as they are. But I thought you should know. Thanks again for the new maps.
Now if only we could get a couple more variations of Random 5v5s, since that is what is most popular online.
