When I lost a planet to culture, I got an event notification telling me "We have lost our colony on X to cultural influence." However, at the same time I got an event notification telling me "Our culture has neutralized the enemy on X" for the same planet...since it was my planet, I should only get the notification telling me it was lost...
Not sure if this is a race specific issue (VR) or in general, but I colonized and let it fall to culture again multiple times and I've gotten both event messages each time...
